You can get something called "Fast Fret" to stop that noise. The noise does get less as the skill increases!
Might have to look into that, we both make that sound and it amkes the hair on my neck stand up when I do it too, lol!
So its not just the dear husband. :)~
Congrats on learning to play. Keep it up and those sounds will turn to sweet music.
I got lucky with my son's practice. He plays strings and most brass instruments and was really good. In your case I would check out soundproofing a room. lol
I know what you mean. My husband also plays and the sound makes me want to run and run. But I try to be nice. DeVon
Harmonics!!! It's annoying when professional guitarists let out-of-control harmonics creep into their music, too.
My teeth are on edge just thinking about it.
Can you produce that sound, too? Maybe letting him hear you making it will help him to be aware of his own squeaking.
Would it help if you offered him a manicure set? :}

Unfortunately, ye I can produce that sound too, lol! We are both trying to figure out how to keep from making it, lol!
My next door neighbour enjoys playing music. I well remember him learning the saxaphone which we heard clearly. Their and our windows were shut... I felt sorry for his wife. He no longer plays the sax but a number of other instruments. I also remember the Scottish bagpipes at the bottom of the garden at 2am.
It sounds as if I dont like music, I do and from day one of my daughter learning to play the cello it was lovely (not sure what next door thought but it was not the owners now)
I would follow marleymoos advice and sew
Gosh, I hope you two don't have to practice together! That's cool that you are doing something together. My hubby plays guitar, tried to teach me ONCE and that was enough!
Carol
oh I hate that sound! Seems to me while he's learning you should be embroidering, the sound of your machine might drown out his "music"!!!!
