I know you have said to use the same color bobbin thread when doing FSL. Does bobbin thread come in all colors or do you use your regular thread in the bobbin.

dkjack, I use the same thread in top & bottom. There a some thread companies that offer their thread in pre-wound bobbins, if you already have their thread, that would be the best way to go, otherwise you might not get a match. Good stitching and let's see a picture of the FSL project in the next day or so or all this info will have been for not. HaHa. A flower for you.

Some little hints for sewing FSL. Fabric type water soluble stabiliser is best one to use. If you don't have heavy weight WSS, you can use two layers of light to medium weight, placed in opposite directions. Use same thread top and bottom but be sure it is not too thick; if your top thread starts breaking too much, lessen the top tension and slow down sewing speed until you reach a nice steady pace. Sit back and enjoy, the final result is so rewarding. Place the finished FSL project, upside down, in a flat based container with warm water and soak overnight, to remove all stabiliser from inside threads, then drain off water and place the container in the sunshine until it dries out and stiffens, or you can iron it (using a pressing cloth) on the reverse side. Cheers and a rose, Meganne

Yes dkjack, When I do FSL I wind my own bobbins with the thread I use on the top. otherwise I buy the prewound bobbins. ( I'm LAZY ) A flower for you.

rayon fades more than polyester but polyester stretches more than rayon

Good for you getting hooked on FSL, dkjack, it's real fun and looks so beautiful, doesn't it. Hugs and flowers sweetie, and have a terrific day.

Just use your embroidery thread of the same color. Will turn out beautiful. Remember that poly threads are stronger than rayon are less likely to break. a * 4U

Thanks. I think I have rayon but will check.

I just finished 4 bookmarks using Rayon and only had breakage when I used the color yellow. Maybe its the Ultr Heavy WSS that I used that helped me.

color should have no effect, but age will. I could even have been at the store where you bought it a long time.

You can get bobbin thread in colors. But it easiest to just wind your own, that way you get a perfect match in both color and weight.
