I take mine in once a year. Last time it cost about $90. I have a friend who sews on her machine for hours and hours everyday. Rarely cleans and oils it. And only took it in once when it totally locked up on her when it was dry as a bone!
Im new to this, how often do I need a tune up and how will I know if I need one?
I take mine in for a good cleaning and tune-up once a year. If you keep yours clean and oiled, you can go longer. When you think you have damaged something, or it starts to make strange sounds, have it checked out.
I take mine in to the my husqvarna dealer at Joanns and they charge $79, not bad really but found a quilt shop down the street that does it for $70. My dealer keeps my baby for 2 weeks the shop down the street, same day!
Just had mine done in January for $89.95...it's a Bernina series 8..830. I think your guy is way too high......
Oh my I pay $110.00 australian....service once a year...I think approx $10 a month not too bad...Hugs Sally
My tech charges $60.00, but that is last year's price may be more this year.
I had mine done a couple months ago and had to have the cutter replaced but the check up alone is around $200. It cost me $349 for the cleaning and the cutter on my PR600. We only have one place now.
Just had it done.... 79.99
Plus, the cost of the new machine I also purchased.
Depends on the machine. Mine are still under warranty, however I was quoted 150.00 for my 6 needle. Yikes!
I think it's $80 at least. Last time I had a repair it cost $150 and he included the tune up.
WHEW That is alot to pay. Most certainly check around. When I had mine checked last it was around $90. which included a small repair.
One place I have used in the past charged $89.00 just for cleaning. I then found someone else for $60.00 and service was quick. I did some inquiring around and found a place for $40.00. I think $l85.00 is outrageous. Check around if you have other dealers in the area. Some dealers will work on all types of machines.
Not long ago my machine was playing up. I took it to an older chap that was recommended to me. He asked me if I wished to have it serviced at the same time. When I picked it up the problem was a small belt which he replaced. That cost $4.80 and the Service was $60.
I just checked this on line today--the Bernina dealer wants $90 US for a tune up for the machine and embroidery module, $70 for just the machine tune up.
had my Pfaff Creative 2.0 serviced last fall at Village Sewing Center in Santa Rosa , Calif for $80 dollars. Then about a month after my up take arm broke and he fixed it for nothing.
I have never taken any of my machines in for unnessecary "check-ups"
I fix things for my mom's friends or buy parts they might need.
I think it is all a scam to pay for this yearly thing, unless there is something broken.
I bought a beautiful secondhand pfaff and when that went wrong they said the electronic board would cost a fortune and I would be wasting my money. My son found a small part in our garage and soldered it in.Works beautifully.
Miser Me.

Use to work in a sewing shop so have pretty much serviced my own machines until all this computer stuff. When my Pfaff 7570 lost its computer screen a year ago, took it to one place quoted $750 to replace the board. Took it to another just because - they charged $90 for a tune up and the thing works beautifully. Guess where I go for everything now!!
mine is $98 covers everything for a yr. I just had my screen replaced which cost me $400 but they tuned it up too. so it actually saved me the $98 for the tune up.
I get free yearly check-ups. I have bought 4 different machines from this dealer, go to their classes, etc. I guess they like me! HeHeHe.
I pay about €50 for the yearly check-up. Had to have the touchscreen replaced the last time and only had to pay extra for that, no extras for the additional time spend.
the place where I got mine wanted 185.00...I thought that it was outrageous...so I wanted to double check...thanks for the info
Sound high to me--unless they have some very special stuff they are doing for that price, seems like they are telling you they don't like to do tune ups!
I took my machine back where I bought it and they charged $65 and they always find a part which needs to be replaced and they replaced without asking so I took to another place where the first time was no charge but this last time was $130 for eletronic. I was desperate to have my machine so I accepted the rate. Looking for some where else to take my other electronic machine.
Mine was serviced at Christmas time and cost R380.00 (about $50.00).
The 1st time I took mine is - was a year ago - the fee would have been $75 - however they gave it to me for $35, which was a shock and a blessing.
I think I want the name of your place. Even with shipping I think it would be less.
I had mine to the store for a yearly controle and had to pay 35 Euro
