Alice so glad they replaced your dress. How many times have we done something like this only to put in the rag bag...Thank goodness they replaced it...Hugs Sally
I know Sally but here is the thing, I was quite over weight and I had stopped buying nice clothes. but I lost 7kg since I stopped working. I think the problem at work was that I was so miserable I alway felt empty, and I of course interpreted this as hungry so I would eat, and because I was so busy I would grab the rubbish from the hospital cafe and eat that. So back to the point. I am still a bit over weight but I am feeling better about myself, so I started buying really nice clothes. I just loved this dress and it looked so nice on me and cost a fortune. So I had to try to fix the problem. If it had of been a less expensive item that rag bag is exactly where it would have gone.
Hugs Alice
Dear Alice,
So glad you took the dress back and that they will replace it for you. In the future use Runaway dye remover. It's fabulous, ask me how I know? I notice Margaret has recommended it too. You can buy it from most good local supermarkets.
Love and blessings Chris
So here is the good news. I took my dress back to the shop and they will replace it for me. I was so grateful, they were really lovely about it.
I have had good luck with a product called OxyClean. It doesn't work every time but is certainly worth a try if you can buy it in your country.
I see the new Oxycleand stick advertised on the OxyClean powder box but have not seen the stick in the stores. Has anyone used the stick? Linda
I have one of hubby's shirts that got run onto and I put it aside and gave up without trying to get the staining out, he wasn't bothered but then it was just a shirt and not even a good one. But don't ya just hate when that happens? Good luck Alice!
My DH would probably be not so bothered about one of his shirts, but my dress cost way more than his shirts do, and he does like me to look pretty.
Alice - I doubt if your husband will kill you. These things happen. Can you imagine what would happen to delicate things if the husbands were in charge of the washing? Hope you manage to come right. Sarah.
Sarah, he has killed me heaps of times, but I survived. Funny, he was not to miffed about my lovely dress, I just said, "I will take it to the dry cleaners then if that does not work back to the shop" he was ok about that.

Well of course it is. I have a very strong Irish ancestory, So of course that would apply to me. ha ha.
The fabric you described sounds like it should not have run. It is possible that a step was missed when they dyed the fabric to make it color fast. Defiantly would take it back and get a refund.
I will try Marg's suggestion with the run-away, then I will definitely take it back, I think I paid about $180.00 for this dress, it did not say dry clean only so I should have been able to wash it.
do you have access to a product like this. It's called a color catcher. The commercial for it shows you can wash reds and whites together. I have no idea how it works. Does Hubby know?
I think I may have seen that in the shop. I will look out for it. The only thing my hubby knows is how to be cranky about everything. well not really, he was kind of cool when I told him about my ruined dress.
I have used the Color Catcher sheets and had good luck. You might also try putting some baking soda in the water along with liquid laundry detergent. I have removed stains this way before. Also if it is in just a few spots try using Spray n Wash Stain stick on the spots and then the baking soda and liquid detergent. Good luck. The color catcher sheets are great to keep on hand to throw in if you are washing something that might fade or run in the laundry, it keeps it from getting on other items also. Let us know how it turns out. Sara
Alice I have just read your post. There is a product here in Australia at the supermarket (Coles) called Run-away. It is for this purpose. Hope this works for you. Marg
Sometimes I've been able to get it out if it hasn't gone through the dryer yet. What type of fabric are you dealing with?
Boy Alice, I wished I knew the answer to that - can you take the soiled dress to a cleaner and see if they can remove the stain?
I am going to have to, it is not a stain so much. The dress is black and white and the white is now a nice shade of grey.
My daughter had a prom dress that had 2 colors and said it could be hand washed delicately but it ran onto itself. I brought it back and they gave me a full refund.
I thought you were dealing with 2 separate garments.
I might take it back if the dry cleaner can't help me. It is the first time I have washed it it said wash seperately.
On this one - I might take it back - I thought it was two garments, but still ask the cleaner if you think they might help.
