I am just now finishing a quilt I started a few yrs ago LOL I made the top and just put it aside, now it is backed, tied and ready for binding, this is going to be my brothers xmas gift for 2011. I have been working on all xmas for 2011 already have a few potholders done working on a wall quilt the blocks are made and hand applique is what I am doing as I embroider the potholders. Have no idea who will get it yet but someone will. LOL
It has gotten almost out of my financial reach. Share your finished project. Would love to see your quilt.
I put fabric and gas in the same basket! No need for it to be that high.
My hubby is always telling me how much his tools etc. go up in value. Now I can say the same thing about my stash!! Plus it's a great excuse to buy more fabric now, before the price goes up even higher. LOL
they have already announced that cotton prices will be rising by the fall so to stock up on clothing now.
I have been shocked for some time the price on good cotton materials. It does make me wish my stash was bigger, but then where would I store it? I went trying to find a specific color to finish a project, and could not find anything that I liked under $10/yd. Did not buy a thing - maybe later. Oh how I wish we were still close to the mills - we used to get good buys from them.
I have heard that the cotton crop in USA had a lot of damage so cotton prices will be higher for clothing and fabric. I am glad I have a room full so I don't have to buy much. I may sell some that I bought for $2.oo a yd to $4.00 a yard and actually make some money. but then maybe not. :)

yes it is, and it is going to get higher as the weather made a dent in the cotton supply for the world this past year.....so watch out....better get it now as it is going to go higher....clothing is to go up about 7% in the coming year due to the cotton shortage.....big deal on network news casts last week.
Material, especially good cotton has gotton rather expensive. But, I am a firm believer in "buying the best you can afford". So now, get busy on that quilt! I need to get another going too, but I also need some more emb thread, stabilizer, oh dear, the list just keeps getting bigger!

I know you were shocked if you haven't bought good quilt fabric in a while. Several years ago I took my mom's elderly cousin and her granddaughter shopping as all we wanting fabric we headed to our favorite shop in IN. since I was visiting there. Bless the cousin's heart she found exactly what she wanted and paid a kings ransom for the fabric in fact she had to borrow some money from the GD to pay out...she said this would be her last quilt and it was, as she no longer has any quality of life, so sad. So get busy on that quilt it'll be winter again before you know it.
I always get very excited to buy materials for a new project. My biggest problem is that the choice is so big that I would like to buy lots of materials!
I wish I had the talent, patience and room to do a quilt but I don't think any of that is gonna change.
I have had the material and batting for over 5 years to make a quilt. My next door neighbour, who makes beautiful quilts has offered to help me on numerous occasions but I am always too busy with other things. I wish you all the luck with your quilt and I hope you put me to shame. Please post on projects when you have finished - it might just make me get a move on!!!
Oh, how exciting to be starting a new project! Keep us updated on your progress. *4U
