on the sewing machine with a zipper foot. You could do this with any kind of the zipper patterns.

I hope this explains it a bit better. You must have a design for a zipper bag. These are on sale now for a dollar. The instructions show you how to install the zipper to make your project. Instead of making the actual project get some fabric and put the zipper in the middle. Then go from there, turn it into a coin purse,a makeup bag etc. the design sews out a straight line that you line the zipper up on. Then your machine does all the work. Try it,let me know what you think! I have a design that calls for a 10 inch zipper but i can shorten it. Try it.

Bev.....I bought a whole box of zippers at a garage sale with big intentions of using them on my knit bags (I have never used zippers always buttons) and I have sat on them over a year because I don't sew (we all know about my semester in jr. high), so I don't understand what you mean and I sure would like an easy way to use them....I read further down and I still don't get it....HELP!

Vicki, if it still doesn't work let me know. I'll trade you something for your box of zippers. I got "stuff". LOL

It can be done, but I'd advise using sewing thread in bobbin and needle when attaching the zipper as it is much stronger and the straight stitch won't cause problems.
I also recommend it for the outside seams of ITH softie toys.

Never thought about using stronger thread, thanks Mops.

Yes, it is possible and relatively easy to do. But as bevintex says, only use ntlon zippers. You can't cut metal teeth and if the needle accidently comes in contact the needle will bend or break.

Bev, it sounds good - but I don't know that much about zippers - so I am hoping you know what you are talking about - I need pictures to understand this sort of thing - Hehehe!

You run a line down the tear away stabilizer, then line the zipper up and set the pattern to sew it in. It's a lazy way to do it. Then take your fabric and add a back and you've got a bag. This works if you have a design for a zipper machine embroidery project. Hope i made sense.

Make sure it's a nylon zipper, no metal teeth!

I'm also going to make these owl pin cushions with the owl face off of the the owl zipper bag. Just embroider his eyes and nose, add some legs and slap him together. I'd better go to bed soon before i come with any more ideas for my to do list.
