Has anyone every downloaded a freebie from a site, and then when you go back to it to put to your machine it tells you that the embroidery file was corrupted? I am glad I did not put to machine.

I have, but as silver said - it more than likely was in the download process - it can't hurt your machine - as you couldn't get it there if you tried. Hehehe! *4U

Yes... It usually poses no risk to your machine embroidery tho. The error is often due to download / connections (via ISP) problems or a bad unzipping program tho.
If there are consistent problems like this from a single site try letting them know (if you are sure your internet connection is good). If they are in zip format try reloading the program you use to open zip files, it may in fact be corrupt. If you are doubtful of the site and they are in zip format Be Sure to scan to manually them using a good virus/spyware program like AVG by Grisoft before opening them!!!!!!!!! I ALWAYS do this from new sites...You would be surprised at how much 'bad' stuff they can pack in those files... Many 'freebie' sites, NOT here and Cute and not at decent sites like DesignsBySick, but some of those in China, Korea, Taiwan, Russia (where such things are not as well policed and prosecution is tougher to carry out) as well as some US sites include spyware in the zip files...
Caveat Emptor!

This is where it happened to me to. Thought that it would be nice, but believe me, I went back a checked others. I have good spyware on my computer system, and all, but guess that is was something with the file from tommy-freeset.com

After downloading I also run a scan for the folder the pattern went into to make sure everything is ok. More work but well worth it.

Yep you are very smart to do this 'pafhen'! More people should follow your lead... They would have far less computer problems and take less chances for security risks if they did so!
A flower for you!!!

Yes, this has happened to me. I have a Brother PE700II that states in the instruction manual that my machine will take PES and DST, unfortunately DST does not work when downloaded to the machine. A flower for your trouble

the very reason I always add a disclaimer when reccommending a site, unless I have personally downloaded without problem. ;)
