this is a lid i did for a box, the balsawood after emb was glued to the box lid and then varnished,use a Microtex needle 80, and a low stitch density designs.

This is awesome. I had heard you could embroider on balsa wood but have never seen it done before. My DH does woodworking. Looks like something we could do together as a combined project. A lovely rose for you.

This is beautiful. How thick was the balsa wood ? and do you embroider as usual / A flower for you.

balsawood 1.5mm thickness,,hoop tear away stabiliser, and stick balsawood to it. place water dissolvable stabiliser on top of the wood,then emb.gently place emb in hot water to remove the stabiliser,and then dry between 2 heavy books.

Tanuja showed us her beautiful box lid, and then frieda comes up with a source for the balsa wood. It's like we're all best friends! lol Does anyone know a scorce where embroidery designs are digitized specifically to sew on balsa?

i got the balsawood in south africa in a hardware shop.the design is given to me by a friend .thks a lot, all ur projects inspire me a lot.
