Hi Dawn,
I have used lots of different kinds of wss, including the laundry bags. I do like them when I want something really stiff and will remain stiff after I dissolve it. I used 4 layers. But, it is really difficult to get out, and It is sticky. For regular FSL I much prefer using 2 layers of Vilene, and the prices are comparable. Vilene rinses out much more quickly and completely, leaving the tiny spaces crisp. I think it would be okay to use even on the top, although you can't see through it. It really wouldn't matter as it comes off so easily. So, unless you want a stabilizer that also super starches, you don't really need the laundry bags. How's that for a review?!
here is where I bought one. Waste of my money. It may be a good topper but not good for fsl. You can buy these in bulk at medical supply stores. Use your money and get some vilene. Just my opinion. Some people love them. Hospitals use them for laundry because they dissolve in the wash.

Dawn, I don't want to stear you wrong - if you mind is set on using these laundry bags - however another CUTE family member sent me some of these - to test out - I didn't like the way that they worked - you would need more than one layer for topping - you would need about 8 layers for FSL - I do believe that they have a great use - as a laundry bag - that washes away in the laundry - other may like them - but there are so many wonderful products - made for embroidery work - you designs deserve to have the sort of product made to hold the stitches of the design in place - to make a beautiful project. Happy stitching.
Thank you for saving me alot of trouble! I didn't quite understand how the laundry bags worked. I don't want to mess with alot of layers. I have enough trouble just trying to figure out which stabilizer goes with what. Kenny at emblibrary list has helped. Thank you!
