has been with the shuttle program for nearly 20 years. It is sad to see the shuttles being retired. It is a loss to Florida, and many people that are losing their jobs. This is a big part of our history coming to an end.

I hate the shuttle being phased out. I cry every time I see one go up, feel the rumble and hear the those engines. It's just amazing to me. Wish your daughter the best of luck.

That's interesting... my son had a part of the space shuttle program, and even got an award for developing a mathematical program that tested the stability of the surface of the platform used for launching the shuttles. I think that's it - LOL. It's pretty bad when you can't even explain the job your kid does! That's close anyway. I like to say he was a rocket scientist! IT is sad. What history. Fortunately he was able to move to a different division of Pratt Whitney. Is your daughter still working with another part of her company? It makes me want to cry. They live in West Palm Beach. Where does your daughter live? And you?? What did she do??

There are reasons we can not say what our kids do - Right now she is still working with the Space Program. She lives very close to the Space Center. She will complete the work with all of the shuttles, and she too has had many awards. When she was little she told us that she did not know what she wanted to be, but she wanted to work on the shuttle. Well - she got her wish, and has been with the program since she graduated college. Hopefully she will be able to move within the NASA group somewhere.

That is soooo cool hearing about her dream and then living the dream. I'm sure there are even bigger challenges ahead for her, and she will always be proud of the part she had as part of the big team in this incredible part of history. I have always been intrigued by NASA programs. The day of the Challenger disaster I had Christa McCauliff's lesson plan's on my desk to follow along with her. I was devastated. It has always been a huge interest of mine that I've followed closely. I always really expanded the Solar System to include the NASA programs when I taught third and fourth grades. I just hope the space program doesn't end.

It is sad to see this program come to a close and so many without a job. It is a big part of our history and sad to see the end of it, too.
