I was just asked that question this week....still don't know! ;) It is so hard to not collect and I tell myself to slow down, yeah right. It's especially hard when there are so many wonderful designs and ideas being shared. Keep up the great work designers and digitizers!
TONS. And still going ......I try and be good and back up on cd. Dont always get to it .
I have so many that I couldnt even contemplate even guessing!!! LOL
I have no idea. Been collecting for about 4 yrs. I have more than some and less than many. CD's and USB's are what I put mine on. I don't save on my computer. Need to get them on DVD for sure.
I don't know how many I have, but I must have somewhere around 10,000 and more to put on my sewing laptop. I also have a cd with 1100 designs that I got with my machine. I just don't seem to have enough and have a hard time finding freebies for dolphins and horses.
I started out printing all the designs I dl. I also laminated them and binded them. Lately I haven't taken the time to print the picture of the design, but when I get caught up on some other things I can pull them up and print them. But it will take a while before I can get them organized.
I liked one other persons idea of numbering them. I think I'll have to make time sometime and do just that - will make it quicker to find although I have made many different folders for things.
Yes, it takes a lot of ink, but worth it in the end.
Ok.. I've already told you that I print pictures w/color charts and put them in an album. (However, I am way behind in this)
I put the pictures, etc. in clear notebook holders, write the name of the design (lace shamrock), where it is stored. I have folders such as Babies/Children, Birds/Fowl, Animals/ Farm Animals, Seashore, and etc etc. and each DVD is named. Right now I have Series 1 and Series 2 DVD's, numbers 1-14. I can go right to the correct DVD when I decide on a design.
I hope that makes sense. I would never find anything and would have to go through thousands of designs on the PC or external harddrive. The albums work really well.
When I decide what to embroider I put it on a usb stick and usually only have a few on each stick. My machine doesn't show the design in color and many times just looks like a blob. It would be hard to tell what some of them are.... then I get my picture and look at it as the machine sews out.
I should have gone for the more expensive machine but just couldn't see spending the money at the time. Little did I know I would end up with so many designs and ideas!

I don't know how many either, and I too need to put them all on DVD before I lose them. Mine are all on an external drive.
I started naming them and keeping the number where I download them from I try and put them in there own file. Like bear-120 and I put him in a bear file. So this way I see all of my bears.
I have over 60,000 designs (and growning). I use Ann The Gran Catalog Xpress software (which is just like Buzz Tools) to organize my designs by subject. I store the files on my computer by web site so I know where it came from. I back up to DVD every once in a while and I back up to an external hard drive regularly. External drives have come way down in price - you should easily be able to find one under $100. The bigger the drive the more it will hold and the more it will cost - but you can use them for things beyond embroidery too so you can get whatever size you may like to store it all!
WOW!!! I have 5,665 on my computer and another 3000 on CD-I had not counted before
Just for fun ,I did a rough count. I have 139,434.00 just on my external drive. I have some on CD's as well. I think I need some HELP! I'm sooooooooooo addicted to downloading. I will never stitch them all out. But sure fun in collecting them.
Hugs Edie
could not tell you how many designs I have..
But I do have them all on an external hard drive
which is currently upto 430 GB...
Big hugs from London

I have been collecting for 4-5 years now and have no idea how many. It would probably scare me to know. I wish I could organise them better. Ruth
I have more than I'll ever use but never seem to have the one I want! Still, someone here usually can point me in the right direction.
I am sure that all the Cuties, including myself have so many designs that we will never even use. I do a back up on to my hard drive every week. A while ago I went through every design I have and deleted the ones that I knew I would never use - and there were plenty. They are all filed under their categories ie children, babies, cars etc on my computer. I also take pictures of everything I make just so I know to who I have given what. Hope you get yourself sorted out.
I burned all my designs to CD's, but for the everyday use I like to use the external hardrive, I have two just in case, so I do not keep many designs on the computer.*****
I'm envious of your name! But I digress. I have about 75,000+. When I first started I kept getting viruses and my dear son had to extract them before the big reformat!LOL Then he created a network as my backup and another network backup beyond that one incase of the viruses, crashes etc. I put all my original designs in a zip format to keep them incase I need to convert them or lose them. And I use BuzzTools database to keep control of them; one folder for the downloading, one for the zip files according to the designer site and one for the finished designs organized in subject folders for easy access. Lessons learned over the years and an accountant in another life.
I store all my designs on hard drive. I have a 1TB external portable hard drive that goes with me everywhere. I back up designs on DVD with my DVD burner. I haven't backed up my TB Drive yet because I have to find a server to put it on, but am looking. Need to back up to DVD but haven't had the time too busy stitching. I don't have time to hunt through album so I have a file system for my designs. I create a folder and put it in there so if I know what I want to stitch I go to that file. My embroidery system is on my laptop, not my machine so I can see the designs there before making up my mind what I want. usually hardest part is deciding what I want to stitch.
External portable hard drive is a good idea. They were selling one on QVC the other day for under $100. (Didn't get it, because cust. serv. couldn't tell me if I could delete and add to it.) Is that a good price?

Hi Raggedy, I have over 50,000 designs NOT including over 20.000 designs that are alphabets! I don't keep picts of them, as I have a viewer on my Mac. I keep them well organized in folders and can get to each one within one minute. So, if I need a shamrock, I can view all my shamrocks and pick which one fits my project out of them. If only my house were as well organized! There are places that can share their lists of folders with you, but I don't have those files. I can share mine, but they are pretty personalized. Welcome to Cuties!
REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR FILES FREQUENTLY!!!
I have not counted my designs... but it is in the thousands... not counting Fonts, and emb. cards purchased for my old White, which I can still use on my new machine.
I also have mine organized in folders... but fear my PC crashing so I back everything up and print!

I was downloading designs last night from one USB to another USB. At one point it said 14,ooo.oo! But that instructions to. But it took 40 minutes to do this! I could only guess!
But I still need more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL
Dawn
I have mine all on DVD's... and have 14 right now -- BUT NOT ALL FULL. Designs are in folders and I add new ones as I come across them, or new designs into the existing folders.

Can't give you a count, but I have almost a DVD full. that's 4.7 gbs. Well, maybe more now. I haven't burned one in a month. Which is very bad. Very bad. I do like to back up. Not a waste of DVDs at all to me.
Using up my DVD's is better than risking losing all these designs, (and in my opinion - justifies the price of ink, too!)
When someone wants something I can just hand them an album and tell them to browse to their hearts content. I now have a stack of printed designs about 10 inches high to put into an album.... So much to do - so little time... I'd rather be embroidering! ha

My dear husband thinks I should be doing something silly, like housework instead of on here downloading or at the machine sewing. He is so silly.
