I have calls and e-mails in to the support departments but I'm afraid I will have to take it in. It is royally bumming me out because I've only had this machine for two months. Sorry all, just had to vent!

Thanks everyone - I do have a warranty so that's really not the issue - I'm just bummed because if I do have to take it in - I won't be able to embroider for a week or however long it takes. I'm having withdrawals already and I have so many projects I want to do. I will try all your tips though and I'm thankful that you all feel my pain!

Boy, do I have empathy for you! Boo Hoo from me to you. My machine is squeaking weird. I'm going to go in again and take off the front part where the thread lifts and look for any tiny piece of thread that may be caught there. That may be what is going on for you too. Shine a good light and go in with tweezers and see if you can find anything at all. I'm determined to find something. When I take my machine it will be at least 3 weeks before I get it back. I can't stand that! I'll bet we both have some thread somewhere........ Sorry, Punky :-( At least you have someone who understands......

Try cutting the machine off and unplug it from power for 4 or 5 minutes. It could be a computer
glinch in the machine causing it to lock up. Sometimes rebooting will help get everything working properly. If you have only had it for two
months, it should still be under warrant. Depending on the type of problem, like possibly the computer malfunctioning, I might push for a replacement (new) machine, rather than a repair. With my luck, the day after the warranty ends, the same problem would reoccur! Good luck!

Way to go Angel, you are quite right, push for a new machine, although I think legally they can offer repair.

Is there an echo in here?

If it is a Brother machine, I have always understood the Brother Company is very customer oriented, so it may be worth a try. Tell them with it being a new machine and already having problems, you have gotten a faulty product, and you prefer an exchange rather than a repair.
Be assertive!! LOL

Well, if it is any consolation at least it is under warranty. Try this, it is a long shot, but may help.

The Emergency Stop Button
What does the EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON do and how to clear it.
Reasons and Solutions

The Emergency Stop Button stops the machine at the exact moment the button is pressed.
*The machine does not go back to the needle up position unlike the regular stop button.
*The machine will stop in the middle of a frame movement.
* DO NOT move the pantograph, if you wish to have any hope of continuing the design from its current location.

How to clear it:
IMPORTANT: Consult the Main Drive System pages of the Parts Manual that came with your machine for further help with part numbers.

On Compact Machines (601c, 1201c SWF Machines):
A.Spin the Hand Pulley in a counter clockwise direction until the number on the pulley reaches 100
B. Turn the Machine back on. You will have to toggle the on/off switch to reset the emergency stop button.

On ALL other SWF Machines:
A. Using a 6 mm Allen wrench screwdriver spin the Angle Plate on the left side of your machine until the Indicator points to 100.
B. Turn the machine back on. You will have to toggle the on/off switch to reset the emergency stop button.

Hope it helps. Good Luck
