I go to several design sites. Then later that night I get a text on my cell phone and it say thanks for visiting our site you have a prize of $50 $100.00 waiting for you call this number.

I'm pretty sure it is a scam or they want me to buy something from them. I have tried to ignore it. But sometimes it is going off in the middle of the night.

Before I do call to find out what it really is I thought that I would ask you Cuties first. Sure wish I knew which site is doing this.
Thanks Dawn

You can register your phone number; including cell phones on the do not call list-a government listing-once done it is illegal for anyone to call you selling anything-only the company where you initiallty provided your number is allowed to call-report any other company that calls-they could have their business license pulled forever.

I have my home phone number and my cell listed on the don't not call list. The calls are always texts.

The best advice I can give is"Do not call the number!" Try googling the number, sometimes you can get the name of the biz that way. I had a "missed call" on my cell awhile back, went and googled it and it was from a photo studio in Florida that I have never done biz with before.

I have whitepage-switchboard.com on my favorites-when a number comes up on my ID that I don't recognize-I the reverse check on it-doesn't always work tho-cell numbers just show the nearest tower and not an actually person or business.
Another way to check too-with our phone service-if you dial *67 then the numberof the caller-you can actually call them back without them being able to identify you-it shows up as blocked or unknown caller on their end.

I never ever give my phone number and if there is an asterix next to the question, I always type in my number but alter 1 digit. Like someone else said here...they do not need ones telephone number

you know that old warn out saying "if it sounds too good to be true", well, my own personal opinion is-smells "phishy" to me.
I entered our name in a drawing years ago for a drawing to win a camper/truck @ NY State Fair. Didn't I start getting calls for us to go to Niagara Falls Campgrounds to try my luck @ possibly turning the "winning" key to start the truck and staty at their campgrounds for a small fee......NOT!!! Took me 2 1/2 yrs to finally get them to stop calling -jeeze-I just wanted the truck, not the scamming lol.~linda~

I don't use my cell phone that much-the only people that have my # are my husband, daughters and one of my sister in laws-she is the one we always have keep a watch on the house & our dog when we are away. I don't give that # out-I don't even like talking on it half the time and don't answer it alot of times in a store-I HATE it when people walk & talk on their phones-oblivious to others around them and here in NY State you can't use a phone while driving-unless it's handsfree-I don't answer when I am driving LOL What a %^(& I am huh? Oh well-cell phones are handy to have but I could live without one.

I don't give my phone number on any of the sites I buy from. They don't need it, they have my email if they need to contact me. Joann's,Hancocks, or any design and fabric shops.

Some of the sites that I want to buy from won't let you continue until they have a phone number. If the box that holds the phone number says optional I don't put it in. Dawn

I agree Dawn-if it has the asterisk-they won't let you continue unless you fill it in-but I guess I never thought of altering the number-but jeeze louise-in this day & age if they have your name and location-they can access your phone number if they really want it, right?

Some sites where you give your information, sell it to other "companies".

I really hate it when the company does this! I give my info in good faith to buy their designs and then they go and sell my number! Hadn't thought of that!
Now I'm mad! When I figure it out I will never go to their site again ever!
Thanks Dawn

This is why I do not fill in any forms to get free designs that require more than a password & email address.A lot of sites do not give an undertaking not to pass on this info & then you get all sorts of emails etc
Husband got a call from Las Vegas telling him he won a prize, one afternoon a few weeks ago, but we are in Australia & hadn't done anything to be a winner. He quickly hung up.
