903A greater percentage of West virginia is covered by mountains than any other state. It also has the highest avg. elevation of any state east of the Miss. The Appalachia Trail makes for some great hiking. They depend largely upon coal mining. Strip mining has ravaged many scenic parts, but the people are working to restore the land.
