I am curious about your problem. I was getting ready to order some for the first time. I do change my needle on my machine after 6-8 hours of sewing and it really helps. Maybe this would help. Let us all know how you solve your problem. It would help us all. Here is a flower to make you feel a little better and know there is someone out there thinking about you

Ohhh! I just hate shredding thread! It is soooo frustrating - grrrrrrrr. I usually growl first. I have a hard time just changing one thing at a time when trouble shooting, so I have to force myself. First change the needle. (save the one I take out because that might not be the problem) If that doesn't fix the problem, I put the first needle back in and try a different thread altogether. If that doesn't work, check your bobbin. Go through each thing, one at a time. Make sure there isn't any other tiny piece of thread stuck somewhere. If that doesn't work, then you may just have some bad thread. I love Metro thread and it works great in my Brother ULT2003D when expensive thread doesn't. But, I haven't tried the variegated yet. I have more trouble with the twisted colors of threads and metallic. Usually for me, shredding thread ends up being the needle.
I like the idea of trying the metallic needle for troublesome threads, and I'm also going to try Sewer's Aid too. I've never heard of it before! I do loosen the tension just a little and have found that helps sometimes too. Thanks for the tips!

I have a Brother SE-350 and my machine loves Metro thread! I would try another needle first, check your bobbin for a burr too. Maybe loosen the top tension just a little.

I was just wondering if you should try a needle that is meant for metallic thread, this may help. Marg

Put some Sewer's Aid on the spool and let it set a little while then try it again. I have done that a lot with no problems. My Metro is usually fine but once in awhile I find the speed is too fast on my PR600.

have you tried using a Metallic needle. They have a nice large eye and certainly helped when I experienced lots of breaking and shredding threads.

I have no problem with any of the Metro Thread. The moment shredding happens I change needle and all is well. Hope you find out what makes yours shred.

Wonder what kind of machines everyone is using. I have a new Bernina 830 and use poly thread from Sick All I have is shredding. My machine stays in the shop. I would like to know the best kind to use. I feel your pain. I had wondered about Metro thread.

Wow - wouldn't I love Bernina 830!!! In SA we use Marathon as it's easy to obtain. I have also used Colorfil Polyester and have had no problem. Looking at the spool of the Metro it looks the same as Colorfil.

Metro thread runs fine on my Brother ULT but shreds a lot on my commercial machine. I have always felt it was because of the much higher speed. If you are using it on a home type machine you may have a burr on your needle.

The Metro plastic side bobbins run very well on both of my machines. I can't tell any difference between them and NEB. The bobbins are on sale right now for $19.95 per box of 144 which is a substantial savings.

Please let us know if you find the problem. I am interested to find out whether you are able to resolve it because their thread is a lot less expensive also.

I am only using Metro thread at this point with great success. When I encounter the shredding, changing the needle fixes the issue.
Good luck.

A burr on an old needle, or tension too tight, seems more lightly the problem.

I had this happen a couple weeks ago with the thread I had been using, and found out that I had a rough spot on my embroidery foot that the thread kept rubbing on. Good Luck finding out the problem.

I bet a new needle will set you straight

You probably already did this, but adjust your tension and lower your embroidery machine speed.

I have the set and love them, no problem for me. Sorry you are having problems. JoAnn

Did you use the same size needle with the other threads? And are they the same weight as the metro with the same design and fabric/stabilizer combo? If everything else was the same (except the thread) then I would contact Metro - they are great people and I am sure they will come up with a good solution for you.
