What do I look for and how do I know I'm purchasing the proper type of metallic thread? If I want to go to JoAnns its over an hour away and other than my machine dealer - that's my only option other than the internet. I'm on a limited budget and I'm really a hands on girl - I like to touch before I buy - I'm a chicken when it comes to ordering on the net. I guess I could reach and buy an entire metallic set - but I may not have the funds for that just yet... Ideas???

I will definitely check them out. Northern Ontario isn't that far away - you still have internet!! I bet its cold there though - I don't like cold... we are breaking out shorts and talking about going to the beach. Thanks for the help!!

I went to Marathon website looking for a specific thread that I could not find. I dialed their 800 number, and the girl was so helpful, and suggested a thread in the metalic similar to what I was looking for(this was in addition to the thread that I wanted) - it is great, and love the way that it stitches. I bought it in the 5000m spool, and was the price of what one spool of metalic thread was at the shop I was buying from. Give them a try.

I'm going to see if they have a website too - I'd much rather just talk to someone tho because I really don't have a clue what I'm doing and my dealer has me terrified that I'm going to mess up my machine if I put anything but his thread in it. At one point I was convinced my house would burn down at the thought of it (jk). I appreciate the help and now I'm confident I'll be stitching in Metallic soon!!

Have you googled metallic thread on the net? I have ordered frequently on the net and never had a problem. It is the only way I can get embroidery supplies. I use www.allstitch.com, but there are many good and safe companies to use.
