This is my embroidery on balsawood. This is one of the dems I did at our embroidery club. The tray was first painted, then, the embroidery was done on

the balsawood. Wood glue was applied to the bottom of the tray then the balsa wood applied and something heavy ontop to keep it flat, left to dry then a coating of clear varnish applied on top of the wood and embroidery, and left to dry completly. Now it is ready to use.

Yes, you can take the 4x4 designs and still use them, just set them together. You also have to use sticky back stitch 'n tear, put it into the hoop, sticky side down, score the paper MAKING SURE you don't cut right thro' then tear out the paper where you want the balsawood to be, and because it is ontop and not in the hoop you should ba able to easily move it

You would be able just to do small ones then maybe in the corners and the centre. Just remember to use a very open pattern such as a running stitch or like I used the 'jacobean' as long as the stitch is not dense as it will break the balsawood.

Hi Shirlene, the embroidery club is CT south Africa! But we would love it if you could make it!!!!!!! Is it asking toooooo much???!!!! lol OH well I can but try. We are about 100 strong and we meet every second month. We have demonstrations at each one, then we have 'show & tell', these ladies are really creative and very talanted.
The design comes from Hatched in Africa and it is the Jacobean set 2 forthe 5x7 hoop.
First go to www.secretsof.com them to 'hatched'

Hi gerryvb, this is from a hobby shop where they sell planes, boats and car kits. The balsawood is only 2mm thick and then I also slow my machine down---very important. If you need help, please let me know.

gerryvb by gerryvb 28 Mar 2008

I gonna try this, but the coming 6 weeks I cann't because last tuesday I broke my wrist. The street was slippery because of the ice and snow. S maybe after that time I will hold you to the advise. thanks!what kind of machine do you have?
