Thanks, you brought a familar scene into my thoughts lol. Made me smile in that thought. I always say I hid it so good I can't find it. It is an adventure to go back though and see all the others moments of hidden treasures! Where did I hide this from me items? Maybe memory will not hide and we can find. Wish you Happy adventures.
Oh my, this sounds soooo familiar! On a good day, I can't always lay my hands on an item I KNOW I have - and once I go and buy a new one of whatever... miracle of miracles, the thing is right there in plain sight WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED to be but, now, to make things worse, I'm in the process of packing everything up to move 5 hours away....32 years of marriage/28 years in this house...and 57 years of collecting far too much stuff! UGH!!! Is my sentiments, too. I don't think I'll ever find anything again. hee hee hee and UGH!
been there too... the other day we were looking for the lint roller.. searched everywhere in the sewing room where it is kept... so I went and bought a new one.. after we were finished with it , I went to hang it up in the pin by my ironing board and poof.. there was the other one... we both got a good laugh, things are usually right in front of our face... or maybe that was my sewing buddy who moves things around ..... (the ghost)
My mother always blamed the "borrowers" lol, they have now moved into my house!
I hate it when I put things up "so well", that I cannot find them!! LOL
Angel
Oh gosh do I know what you are talking about.!
I have now learned to laugh at myself (not always) and say I was looking right at it with my eyes closed.
Glad you found your treasure AND as a bonus you have order in your storage. The big question is - will you remember where everything is.
I am in the process of having a grand sort in my hobbies room and now I hear myself saying 'I know it's here somewhere 'cause I saw it when I was sorting out.' Hey ho I need something to keep my busy ;).
It happens to me all the time. I know that frustrating feeling to know you've got it but you can't find it.
Please show us the result !
Cathie
This happens to me more times than I want to admit. Very frustrating.
Oh Emily this hspprnd to me quite frequently so I know how you feel. My problem is I usually do not find what I know I have untill I start looking for something else, then I find what I was looking for a week ago as plain as the nose on my face. LOL My problem is definitely OLD AGE./Lillian
Most of us can relate to this story if we are to be truthful. The older I get the more real this has become. The fairies do play tricks on us sometimes. LOL.
Sounbds so familiar. What gets me that an item is forever in your way. I will move it from one place to the other and the moment I could use it it is nowhere to be found. It will magically appear again the moment I don't need it.
Find anything interesting ? The older we get the more stuff we have .When this happen to me a couple of months ago ,I found some interesting things that I had forgotten about , husband even got a new T shirt made, that I discovered cut out & not sewn. Also things went into a bag to give to a friend to use for things she makes for her church fetes etc.
Yes I did find some stuff. About a year ago. I got darkwood floors in my sewing room...I had to remove everything. I got 75% back and organized but that 25% is still all stuff in tubs and mixed up. I need to be left alone for a couple of weeks so I can spread it all out and enjoy sorting and organizing but no time for that.....AS it is I spend more time cleaning than stitching...ugh!!!
It is amazing what one finds when looking for something else. Does not happen to me with sewing things (not enough space)- just important papers that I have misplaced!!!
I like capoodle's idea of taking a photo of what all is inside a box/container and putting it on the outside. Even at times things get covered by something else so you might miss it. I'd do pics if I had a stock of anything. I don't do that much that I keep much on hand. Now if I could organize my house that way we'd be set. Of course as the one deisigns says, Organization is for people too lazy to look for stuff!
Can't stand looking endlessly for stuff so I purchased some large mailing lables that you can put in your printer and made some nice lables for containers I can't see in. Most of my containers I have now are clear and clear has made my life easier. On a couple containers I took a picture of the stuff and taped the picture to the outside. Can't wait to see the finished marionette doll.
I can't wait until its finished. I want my 8year old granddaughter to do eas much as possible but its slow going and I don't have as much patience as I used to so we work for a while and then leave it for another day. Today we attached his arms and legs, made his pants out of some of my husband socks, made his shoes and attached his face that my GD drew at home and then sort of fashioned his hair. We are recreating Louis Braille
I can so relate. I did the same thing the other day when looking for some felt squares. I knew I had them, went out and bought some, came home and found the felt I had been looking for hours for, grrrr. LOL, but like you, I now have refreshed myself on the whereabout of a lot of things, LOL :)
Well, I am glad you found it. Think positive, the next time you need to look for something, it will be easier because you just did inventory while searching. Thanks for sharing your cute story with us. ~Carolyn~
I admire your perseverance! You FOUND it! You'll probably put things back in an even easier way to find things - NExt time! Time for a good long sigh and say "Oh well!" understanding, empathetic hugs,
Jan
Bet that is going to be quite a marionette!
Emily you now know the secret to where I usually hide lollies etc from my children! Much better to put them in places where normal stuff is, like behind the dog or cat food, near any cleaning apparatus etc, you get the picture! Of course then I'm likely to forget and find it when I'm hiding the next lot! Just need to stretch it out a bit or they'd eat it all at once. When I had a husband living here he was even worse -no *won't* power, whatsoever! Glad you found your hair. Now you'll think of other projects for the bits you found in between :)
I think we can all relate to that story, but at least now you have been through everything and you probably found some stuff you had forgotten you had. Now when you tidy it all up you will know exactly what you've got and where it is.
Good Luck. It is amazing what you find when you go looking. You suddenly remember that you put this object away for the day that you will need it and then completely forget you have it. Lyn
OH no, it was right where it should be and marked!?!?!
Well, you have the cleaning up to do - hope you also found lots of other things you can use and get them marked and put in the right place, too.
Oh Emily, this happens to me all the time and is so annoying, so just know your not alone in not being able to see whats under your nose! Glad you found it !!! :)
