What machine do you have and what software? I feel sure someone will have the same model and may be able to help you.
I have an Ellageo and it will adjust density on some....I forgot it did that! I will have to see how that turns out. Some designs don't give me that option and some do.
I also have this problem. I have Pe-design 8 and I'm not sure when you resize if you click the button (Keep density and fill pattern) what happens. Any suggestions
I use Designer's Gallery Density works. I bought a Designer's Gallery Studio pack and and I use it all the time to reduce Emb. Library designs. I use it with my Babylock. They do have free trials. Go to babylock.com and look around.
I use embird basic and enlarge 6-7% without changing the density. You may be able to use your machine to do the same thing (most machines don't change the density they just make the design larger by making the stitches longer). Some I have no trouble with leaving them at the original size - some I do size up just a little.
I didn't see Embird mentioned. Open the design, go to edit. Then RIGHT mouse click on the entire design on the menu on the right and you go down to change or set density. Can't get any easier than that.
I love Embird.
glad you asked and the answers are great. Will have to try these ideas.
sewwhatpro has a density adjustment in the tool bar. Very easy to use.http://www.sandscomputing.com/
download a 1 month free trial...amazing program, with help on the yahoo group for sewwhatpro
Hi All
I bought a software package for just this problem. It's called Density Repair Kit & I purchased it from
www.echidnaclub.com.au Forget how much it was but it's so easy to use. Don't know if the site will I've put up will turn blue but you can google for info.
Hope this helps, they also said they use this programme with loralie designs too as they can also be dense.

shouldn't have that extra "will" there after site, getting too late for me. LOL.
There is a way to do this, I can't quite remember exactly how to do it. I think you use Wilcom Free Software and then you reduce the design slightly (you have to tell the software to decrease the stitches, you check a box I believe) then you uncheck the same box that would increase the stitch count and then enlarge it back to the original size. Since you decreased the size and reduced the number of stitches when you then re-enlarge it back to the original size with the stitches still reduced it is then slightly less dense. Clear as mud, right!
I checked and if you have embird you can do this, you load the design, then decrease the size slightly then select all and right click on the design. It will bring up a window click on stitch density and then you unclick the save orginal stitch count. Then you enlarge the design back to the original size and the design should be less dense. I don't know how it will look sewn out, someone will have to test it out.
Just what I wanted to know! I have bought many of their designs but have not stitched out nuch. I think on the Designer 6 (or Editor Olus 6) there is a solution - but I need to go to Bernina to find out. Just be careful with enlarging as some designs NOT designed in ART give preoblems. Art changes the number of stitches with the size.
I also have Artista ver 6 software. I even complained to Emblibrary. I don't think they think that they have a problem. I think their designs are digitized in EXP or DST formats, but not sure. I even tried downloading in those formats, but it played havoc with the colors. I had to go back and change every color.. If you have a Bernina machine, most of the newer models will adjust the density of satin, fill and fancy stitches as well as adjust the pull compensation and run length. I don't know about other brands. I guess they have it too. My machine gives me a choice to re size or recalculate. Recalculation is supposed to be better.
I have had this problem with many of their designs
I just love the look of them but the density is just to high for the project i have in mind :-)
I like the idea below of increasing the size of the design..
Big hugs from London

Thank you all for your answers. I will have to play with my machine some more.
I see you have some great answers here. Hope you find something that will work for you.
Great question....I have a lot of Emb.Library designs and usually don't have a problem, but I shy away from designs that are above 20,000 stitches when I can....I do like the idea of making the design 10% larger as MJDG suggested and will try this.....thanks for a great question...Janet
good question-I also have that problem with their designs-I just don't download them if I think they have too many stitches-now maybe I have learned something today from all these answers. Thanks everyone.
I have a 780D Brother. The lady at the store told me to just make the design about 10% larger and that would make the stitches a little less dense and not change the stitch count, (because my machine is not able to change the stitch count) but making it just that little bit larger did help with a very dense Em.Lib. shell design.

Amazing Designs has software-Edit n Stitch- that will allow you to change density and much more.
Sometimes, the software program that comes with your machine allows you to resize, reposition, and change the stitch density. On mine, this is shown on the same toolbar where you resize, etc., before sending the design to the machine. If you do not have this feature I am sure you can purchase software that will help you to do this.Good luck.
I have a program called Embroidery Extra for my Viking Designer 1 and it doesn't change the size of the design when changing the density. But it does lighten up the design. I haven't had the program very long and have used this feature a couple of times and it does work.

When I enlarge, do it with PED basic on the computer before I load the card. It only does 20%.
I think you have to increase the size of the design slightly by your machine. But not sure, would be nice to have this answered as love their designs, but do find them very dense.
I'll take you to the top again. I would like to know this to. Hope someone could help.
