Why bother with glue - why don't you use a ribbon?

What a fantastic idea! When one of our expensive globes for our bathroom light broke my husband glued the glass back together with super glue. It has stuck now for over 15 years! It gets plenty hot, so I'm thinking the super glue might do the trick. I can't wait to see how it turns out! Good Luck with your idea!

Thank you. If it wasn't late i would work on it now. I'll post it in projects.

Seems too like you need to use Poly thread to withstand the heat. My friend painted on her lamp and it made it too dark, so remember to not add too much lace for the same reason. I have an overhead lamp in our bedroom right above the bed that needs a little something...... maybe a fsl pinecone design....

Attach the lace with heat-resistant glue. There may also be Heat Resistant Glue Tape on the market. Glue gun sticks also makes high heat glue.

Thank you for the compliment Alice. Some of my best ideas come by accident. I was sitting here with my lamp on and just finished a 3d lace flower. I put 2 and 2 together and wa-la. Maybe I'll start a new design trend. Now the ideas are starting to swirl. I work on it tomorrow. Stay tuned

Bev why not use your glue gun if you have one, :)

won't the hot glue melt when the lamp heats up? just curious because I think Bev has a great idea and I was waiting for the answers.

I have hot glue, tacky glue, super glue and fabric glue. I even have some sparkly glue. So I'll try them one by one. 1 out of 5 should work.

bevintex by bevintex 28 Mar 2011

Oh my, I just found 3 more glues. LOL

How many glues can one girl have? Never too many I suppose! There are hot melt and cool melt glues. I don't think the cool melt would be a good idea like Alice said, It would melt for sure.

I think the hot glue from the gun is a good idea. You can use just a bulb with max. 40Watt (don't know how much that is in US) and the hot glue needs a high temperature to get smooth.
Greetings, Bettina

I also have the smaller 40 watt bulbs. I'll just experiment like a mad scientist.LOL
