I haven't bought one, but not very long ago one of the cuties was waiting for hers - she had bought a Janome MC11000 - not sure if it was an SE, but haven't noticed anything to find out how that turned out.
I personally would buy from ebay as you make sure of the sellor and return policy, etc.

I purchased my first embroidery machine from e-bay. It is a Janome 10001. I never have had any problems with it and it has been a very good machine for me. I would not hesitate to buy another one from e-bay as long as the seller had excellent selling feedback. I live in PA and my machine came from Minneapolis, MN.

I've never bought a machine on ebay, I've sold some tho. I did buy a in good condition Bernina Artista 180 on SewItsForSale, it's a Yahoo group that sells sewing items. I've seen some really good deals. You join just like any other Yahoo group. I got a newer version of my original 180 (I still have my old one, and use it for a back up). I payed $1,100 for the new one with a bunch of extras - that I either didn't need or want, and sold all of the extra stuff on Ebay for $800 so I really only ended up paying $300. for a nice machine. The seller also paid the postage. It's a great site if you want to buy used things.

I have bought 2 embroidery machines from eBay. The first was a Babylock Esante and the second was the one I am using right now. The Babylock was in super shape cosmetic-wise, but it did not work. The seller refunded my money immediately, with no problems. The second was from one of the more reputable sellers on eBay. It works beautifully - I also bought my serger from the same seller (it too works perfect). I would have to agree with the people who recommend reading their sales history, etc. Feel free to PM me and I will tell you exactly which seller I bought mine from. Good luck!

I did buy a machine last year on ebay, a Brother Pacesetter PC-8500. In doing some research I found out it is the equivalent of a BabyLock Esante, only less expensive. The seller was very helpful, but wasn't completely honest about its use. Plus she packed it so poorly that UPS dropped it upside down out of the box! I ended up paying about $300 for repairs plus a lot of aggravation. I think you can get good deals on ebay, but I would suggest that you first check your local dealers for trade-ins they have. They will stand behind the machine, help answer questions, and have some history on it. Plus they are close by when you need help. I would check out Brother - they have an awesome reputation and product, are a sister company to Babylock, but cheaper. Make sure the machine you're considering has the hoop sizes you want. My machine sews beautifully, but does not have a USB port so I had to buy an additional program to transfer the designs from my laptop to the machine. I would get a machine with USB port if I had to do it again. I have since bought an Ellisimo and it is wonderful. Babylock and Brother both have big sales going on right now. Good luck!!

I purchased a barely used Babylock Esante machine and it is wonderful....I got it for less than half the price of a new one...I did a lot of research on both Brother and Babylock machines prior to looking so I could narrow my search down to the features I wanted....so research on both the type of machine and on the seller helped me make an awsome purchase. Don't forget too that many of the embroidery sites have a section where fellow crafters may be selling a machine also. Good luck.

Make sure you ask any questions you have about the machine; are all the extras with it, if the machine had ever been repaired, when was the last time it was used
AND make sure you check the sellers history!!
good luck

My friend purchased a pfaff machine last Dec. with excellent results so I just bought one also. I was told to check out the customer reviews for the seller to see if they have had problems. I did get a good price but did see that the same machine was sold for a wide range of prices. I got mine for 1500. but saw them for 3000. I did bid on several before I won. If you want details email me at midge44614@sssnet.com

I know people who have had good success on EBay but also know a few who bought machines on there and had problems that could not be fixed. They would bring them to our shop and we couldn't help them. Make sure it is a person in good standing and I personally would try for a new one and I think there are people who sell new ones on there also. Just remember buyer beware. Better to pay a little more for a new one than a cheaper used one. if you do get a used one make sure you get everything and also a guarantee it is in good running condition.
Not sure if this will help but just my 2 cents worth. *4U
