I hoop my towel and tear away togather. But I use melt away on top so the stitches don't sink down into the towel. I guess every body does it the same almost just a little different. Try out a couple of different ways and stick with the one you like best. NO special hoop here. welcome to our cute family and flowers to you.
Hi, Cathy, I use sticky stabilizer in the hoop. Then draw a pin around the hoop to score the paper for easy removal. Position the towel. Add the water solible on top. If the towel is heavy I will baste or tack it at the corners of the frame to prevent moving. I don't want those precious stitches to be come mis-aligned. The sticky is paper backed and disappears after the first washing. I use Solvy and have never had a problem pulling it away. Just take your time and lift gently. I usually buy dense, tightly woven towels. I haven't had a problem with the loops pulling out.
Hi Everyone:
I use AQUA MAGIC for just about everything. It is a WSS and it also come in a adhesive WSS. I just hoop a piece of the Adhesive WSS and put the towel on top, then you can either put another piece of Adhesive WSS on top or just the regular Aqua Magic and pin it down. I have made many towels and it works great.

Hi, Cathy, and everybody! Big welcome to Cathy, and flowers for everybody. Tiny bit off the topic here, because I haven't done a towel yet (getting to that next), but I have to tell you about my dealer. Seems like so many just want to make sales, whether you need something or not. I have the Janome 300E, and Raelene & others were talking about the Gigahoop, so when I was down at the dealer I asked her about it. Know what she said? Ok, sit down, ladies--"You don't need that, Marji". She knows the stuff I work on, and proceeded to explain to me why I did NOT need a $50 hoop I was ready to buy! Now, these folks have just opened their second store in another town, so they're successful like crazy. But their success comes from being honest with folks, servicing what they sell, giving free classes for your machine & software, so of course I won't buy thread anywhere else, or stabilizer, or almost anything. They build customer loyalty by being worthy of it. Just thought you might like to know there are still 'real' dealers out there, not just profit-seekers. Wish you could all have dealers like SuperStitch. Their motto is "More fun than you should have with a sewing machine". And I do, all the time!! Big hugs to all. Marji
Cathy, you've got your answer, so I'll just give you a *big welcome* to our *Cute* family, along with hugs and a flower for you sweetie.

cathywaite, you got your answers here, so I will just WELCOME you to the 'CUTE' family and give you a sweet flower. *4U
oh, I almost forgot to give you the flower I was holding for you! Welcome, please ask anything you want to know. Chances are someone here will know the answer or as in this case, "An Answer". ;)
Well, that salesperson did trick you, did they. Good for you for asking. Some people hoop their stabilizer, towel and water soluable topping all in the hoop together. I have done it that way. I also have hooped a tear away and used a temporary adhesive spray and fixed the towel to it then used the topping. Some swear by sticky stabilizer, but I don't like to pick it out of the towel and I had a problem pulling the nap loose and having strings everywhere. The point is What works for you, works. But as you see there are many ways not to spend another 50-60 bucks on a hoop. ;)
DIDN'T trick you, I meant to say....where is that spelling bee when I need it????
Cathy like raels I use Sticky stablilizer in the hoop and WSS floating on the top. Welcome to the Cute Family.A flower for you.
I wouldn't use sticky on towels - it might pull out the loops when you tear it away.
I have Janome 300E and I don't hoop my towels I hoop a sticky stabilizer and use WSS on top and never have any problems * 4 U
I don't use a special hoop, I hoop my backing then use spray 505 to put the towel down, then pin wss down . Made sure your pins are out of the way of your machine. flowers for all
Welcome cathywaite, I have never heard of needing a special hoop for towels. What is your machine? I do towels just like dionnahawkins does. Some places just want to make a sale. You can always ask and get help here! H.*.
brother 4000d.
thank you to everyone for their help it is very appreciated
I sometimes use a Quilters-All hoop. I has a little more room for the thick stuff.
I use the normal hoops as for other embroidery to embroider towels and like kttyhwk4 said I also use tearaway under towel and wss on top. works for me too. flowers for you
SPECIAL HOOP? Sounds like someone was trying to sell you a special hoop. A flower for you. Loretta
I don't use a special hoop. I hoop tear away and pin towel with WSS on top of towel. Works great. A flower for you.
I don'tuse a special hoop, I use tear away under and WSS on top of the towel and that works great.
Welcome to the CUTE site *4U
I don't use a special hoop, but I do not hoop my towel. I use WSS on top and "fix" or stay stich the towel to the stabalizer. I use the WSS on top only if I am going to use a design that will sink into the loops of the towel.
I don't use a special hoop, but I place wss on the top and tear away on the bottom of the towel when embroidering it. *4U Welcome to our "Cute" family too :D
