I do hand embroidery; it's what got me back to sewing after a bunch of years. I started with a bib for my first grandchild (finished it on the plane the day that she was born). Since then countless things. Everybody's kids and grandkids got bibs. I've done towels, pillowcases, table runners, napkins, placemats..
It's getting harder because of the arthritis in my hands but not giving up yet. no way am I telling how many projects, stamped goods and kits I have left!!! :>)
good topic.
You may also have to live to 150 yrs as I do and I must stop having to have every kit I see for a while until I get some done, but it is an addicition hahaha.
I still do some hand embroidery, and cro-hook ing. I have a tablecloth that I have everyone sign when they visit us between the day after Thanksgiving and the day after New Years, and then I hand embroider all the names. Each year gets a different color. The one I am working on has about 6 years worth of signatures, and is almost full!!! Hugs, Judy
Still do a fair amount of hand work such as needle turn and other forms of applique, also other needle work like hardanger etc. However like most of the cuties, age has got me doing more and more machine work.
I love hardhanger so much that my aunty sent me all her UFO<s and books, havent done much with that yet.
I used to do a lot of hand embroidery until my eyes started going bad. Now it is just machine embroidery for me. I still crochet and knit. Hugs, Mary
I used to knit, that was all I could do until 4 yrs ago, that has gone by the wayside now.
I did hand embroidery & cross stitch. But arthritis has stopped that! I do good to hold a needle to sew on a button or hem something. So thankful for my sewing machine! I can even sew on buttons if I need to! Also helps to have a daughter that doesn't mind doing the handwork for me when she's in town!
I use to do xstitch, crewel, embroidery, crocheting and macrame. After buying a Brother ULT in 2001 I became addicted to machine embroidery. I still have many beautiful kits that I should take when away from home just to get them finished. I wish I could revive my interest in those crafts but so far, no.
Has anyone else just become addicted and left everything else behind?

I have always done lots of handembroidery but after a fall (slipped on wall paper paste)I broke my thumb and the bones in the joint of my thumb and I can not hold a needle for any length of time (nor any other small object) That was the reason I bought an embroidery machine. I have never regretted buying one but I still miss doing handembroidery.
I do too (done so for years) and tapestry. Like Sue, only had my machine about 10 months. Still struggling :(
I still hand embroider. I have about 30 kits left to do so I will be doing this for the rest of my life. I just finished putting the machie embroidered backing on a hand embroidered lapquilt. Had to combine my 2 loves somehow.
You will need to live to 150 the same as me. I see something and just must have it.
I do a lot of hand applique and love the needleturn technique, however I also enjoy machine satin stitch applique as well.I have been quilting for 20 years, but have only developed an addiction to machine embroidery over the past year since my three adult children and their partners gave me an embroidery machine for my special birthday.
I have just learnernt needle turn, am getting better. learnt it at a work shop.
I do hand embroidery - I too have only had a machine for a year and a bit!
I have only been machine embroidering for a short while, maybe two & a half years. I used to do machine satin stitch applique on my stoles. Did needle turn applique on my quilt (have a Christmas quilt to do with this method). When I find the time it will be back to my cross stitch projects! and needle turn and and and !!!!
I started off nearly 4 yrs ago with an embroidery machine and love it so much but have broaderned my field since and love it to.
I am still doing some by hand. I had some kits from long time ago and I don't want them to go to waste. I have 3 tablecloth to embroider.
I also have a table cloth to do but as a learner i am not confident enough to start it yet until I get a bit more practise.
