OK Cuties,;-) I have no idea IF any of you wonderful persons will come back to my post or not BUT I need to let you all know that once again Thanks to all of you and your time I did the zig zag around the entire out line of the castle and it looks almost perfect at least to an "uncuties" eye lol...the reason I was so hesitant to try was I only have the one machine and it took me all this time to read the book to turn it into a sewing machine because I never use it like that...BUT for future I will not panic I will remember what I learned today from all of you...I am so thankful once again for all the time you all took helping along my journey once again...this is just why I am doing so much better and enjoying my machine. Before these boards I only used it acouple of times because of all the frustration...WHO knew that a floating piece of stabilizer would work miracles...ONLY YOU GUYS...Thank you again wish there were more than flowers..HUGE HUGS, Barbara
Barbara, I'm so glad you found a solution. Your tote bag is beautiful, you are very talented! Hugs, Yoriko
Thank you, and even though NOT cutie perfect...NO one else will notice. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Hi. You have received many good ideas. I just wanted to give you a word of caution. I read that this bag is for a trip to Disneyland. I have heard that Disney is very aggressive about their trademarked items. Do you know if this design has been okayed by Disney? It is worth checking out 'cause I've heard some scary stories about lawsuits. I'm not trying to scare you--just advise you to make sure you are protected.
I think you did a fabulous job on the tote! It looks very good. If all is ok with the design, going over it with a dense, narrow zig zag stitch should work really well. Think about your buttonhole stitch-you can set your machine's stitch width and length to achieve such a stitch and slowly sew around the castle. That is basically what a satin stitch is and it looks like that is what was used on the castle as the outline stitch. You only need to do the outside of the bottom half of the castle (the part that looks like it was sewn in white thread). I hope that helps and everything turns out great!
Kathy
HI Kathy, your comment is what I was so worried about the first time I made iron on shirts..well I have so many funny stories about Disneyland..first I am nut, have a season pass and my girl friends and myself go about 8 times a year...this tote is for all of us...anyway, I have been taken to City Hall, in Disneyland, by employees to show off my designs...they seem to LOVE them and as long as I am NOT selling them God knows if I had a trunk full rofl..so many ask..it is OK. so Thank you so much for you concern, as it was mine at first so many years ago..but the designing of stuff is half of "OUR" trip. :-)
Could you have trimmed your applique fabric a little too close and it let go? It's still really cut. I like the idea of using your sewing machine to zig zag over the area or use a white permanent maker to cover the area. Nice tote!
I have this design and it sewed out beautifully....
Did you sew out the 4x4? I used sticky stabilizer and floated tear away AND it was on canvas...That should have been enough to stablize the small design. What did I do wrong?? I know her designs are ususally perfect that is why I did not test first.I sewed it out again on scrap and same exact thing...the outline stitches on the bottom of the castle are all over the place they never are in a straight line BUT on the right side BOTH times it does not catch..The top of the castle and turetts are perfect....
maybe too much munipulation during the cutting of the fabric for the app? and the putting it back in the machine?
The 5x7 is what I stitched out..but the sticky stabilizer is the culprit..Next time use a basting stitch around the design along with the sticky stabilizer to keep the fabric from moving..A heavy fabric will move and the slightest move does cause the "out of registration" when it sews out..hope this helps.
Hi again sew, I did use the basting stitch, which I learned about here too. So it just seems that the 4x4 All the stitches around that lower castle are "out of registration"(see I learned again) maybe when it was sized down by the digitizer. Anyway, even though its not cutie perfect...I have learned so much HERE for the next time and maybe someday I can help another the way you have helped me. Thank you
well - I see you got some very good idea, but do use the zig zag on your machine and go over it. That way, no hooping, and easy fix. Good luck.
THANK-YOU ALL will keep it updated to my progress...Cuties are the BEST!!
OK here are the pics....I LOVE the entire tote, but the caste....JUNK! I think I will try the zag zag...
Perhaps you could make a pocket and put another appliqued or embroidered piece over it. That way the "bad" piece would be the inside of the pocket and not seen. Just a thought...
Hugs, Nadyne
I already thought of redoing it and making a patch out of the design....so your thought is a good one.... :-)
When i have something like this showing i take it to my regular sewing machine a do a zig zag were it is needed and noone knows the difference except maybe a CUTIE!!carolyn
Did you contact them to let them know what happened?
Sorry that this happend, but once again, I say to ALWAYS do a test stitch out of a new design before you use it on something good. Someone just had the same problem on here a couple of days ago.
I test stitch all my designs the first time I use them, It doesn't matter if I buy them, or if they are free, some machines stitch them out different than others.
Hey guys stitched it out again on scarp and its the same..just not a great pattern I guess....
That happened to me one time too, I feel your frustration. It was a tote also for a friend, she didn't see the mistake, but I did! The only thing I could think of that went wrong, is that the fabric slipped in the hoop a little bit and that made the design off. Even that fraction of an inch can make a difference. Sometimes I will double up on my stabilizer around the outside of my hoop, it makes the hoop tighter, esp. if it's the 5x7.
Could you post a picture? It would be easier to help you if we could see the problem. H&*
If the outline is satin stitch, could you go over it with a wider zig-zag stitch on an ordinary sewing machine? I've needed to do that a couple of times and it isn't really noticable (except to you of course!)
Being I hooped the project 3 separte times to line them up again IMPOSSIBLE...but this is great idea for the future Thank you
But you don't have to hoop it to use a zig-zag stitch on your sewing machine. I've used that method several times with success.
I can understand your frustration although it could have been avoided if you'd done a test sew out. I know it's a pain to do this sometimes but rather a little pain than a ruined project. So sorry.
Hugs Karen
Hi Karen, I did not think I would have to due to the fact I purchased so many from her with no problem before...
Can you cover it with some BLING or add another design to camouflage it? IHTH *2U
Hi Mad, YOURS is the first thing I thought about, but the castle is only 4x4 so to add something it would need to be a tree of something, and small...I will try to post a picture...it is so darn cute its for Disneyland and it has the word, and Tink ALL purchased designs, including the castle.
