I think my machine suffers from separation anxiety! I can be sewing out a design - watch it closely and when I think it is doing fine... walk away about 4 steps to do something (I never leave the room) and it will beep and shut off saying the top thread is broken....

Sure enough it is. I rethread - watch it closely and it will sew the rest just fine.
This has happened over and over!
Does this happen to anyone else or is my machine spooky? It knows when I walk away!????

Sadie (my machine) has her moments also. I probably need some parenting skills also. lol Maybe she needs a time out or maybe I do. Love her anyway!!!

midg I have always said "each machine has a mind of it's own" It's amazing how different 2 machines that are the same make can be./Lillian

I was so surprised this morning to see so many answers and reports about spooky machines! I was going to put mine on "time out" because I was finished with my latest project.... then I got an email from Emb. Lib. and just had to have one of their 50% off designs! (long sigh/rolling eyes :) so I'll give it another chance --- then time out!

I'm sure my machine is in cahoots with all my emb. sites! Happens all the time!

Mine does it too. The only thing I can get away with is turning sideways to use my regular sewing machine while the design sews out and I still have to tell her that I'm right there and watching her!

Wer steckt dahinter???

I haven't been doing this long enough to run into this problem, but I love the comments - have had a good laugh (always need one of those), baut I'm sure my turn is coming!

Read never to be further than two feet from your machine while it is running. In your case I would prop up a picture of yourself and try and fool the machine. lol

Think our machines have a nasty sense of humor, don't you? Like the old saying goes when the cat's away the mice will play....yep just like our machines. Think we've spoiled them.

Well my "baby" behaves iherself most of the time. No separation anxiety here. "She" has had to learn from day one that I am not going to sit and watch "her" every move. My computer is in another room so it is necessary for me to have to leave "her" to herself. Could we put your problem down to bad parenting?????????

Just like a child. You turn your back and there they go. Yes, seems that happens to me almost every time. lol :-)

My machine is at it's happiest when it can listen to some Yanni, purrs with Andrea Bocelli and sings away with Il Divo. Then at just the right moment I can sneak out for a potty break or a chai latte.

Maybe we should "sing" to them or something or talk soothingly to them?

This is weird!
