Sadie (my machine) has her moments also. I probably need some parenting skills also. lol Maybe she needs a time out or maybe I do. Love her anyway!!!
midg I have always said "each machine has a mind of it's own" It's amazing how different 2 machines that are the same make can be./Lillian
I was so surprised this morning to see so many answers and reports about spooky machines! I was going to put mine on "time out" because I was finished with my latest project.... then I got an email from Emb. Lib. and just had to have one of their 50% off designs! (long sigh/rolling eyes :) so I'll give it another chance --- then time out!
I'm sure my machine is in cahoots with all my emb. sites! Happens all the time!

Mine does it too. The only thing I can get away with is turning sideways to use my regular sewing machine while the design sews out and I still have to tell her that I'm right there and watching her!
No its that lonely little chap that sits inside telling the needle where to go just cant handle the thought that your not watching his every moove but you sure know when your back is turned he gets cranky and spits the dummy thats how we all became mesmerised needle atchers I woder if I put a pick of me in front of the macine he will know im not there lol Hugs Shazells
too funny..
I tell my machine where I am going and what I am doing, its like having another kid..
but this way she runs brillaintly..
You know My husband thinks im mad talking to my machine.. I am sure I do it with out even thinking lol
Big hugs from London

I just love the answers to this problem. I have the same problem so I guess we all spoil our ???
I do hope you have a teddy bear or a little doll sitting by your machine at all times.

Wer steckt dahinter???
I haven't been doing this long enough to run into this problem, but I love the comments - have had a good laugh (always need one of those), baut I'm sure my turn is coming!
Happens to me all the time! Thanks for sharing- Now I know My machine isn't the only one....LOL
I sometimes think our machines are human. Mine also sews better when I am sitting right by it.
Read never to be further than two feet from your machine while it is running. In your case I would prop up a picture of yourself and try and fool the machine. lol
Great idea, but where do you put your picture - in front of - at the back or maybe on your chair????? Lyn
Think our machines have a nasty sense of humor, don't you? Like the old saying goes when the cat's away the mice will play....yep just like our machines. Think we've spoiled them.
Hugs, Karen
Well my "baby" behaves iherself most of the time. No separation anxiety here. "She" has had to learn from day one that I am not going to sit and watch "her" every move. My computer is in another room so it is necessary for me to have to leave "her" to herself. Could we put your problem down to bad parenting?????????
hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I love it Marg.
Could we go one further and call it SBS perhaps?
Spoilt Brat Syndrome!!!
If my daughter were telling this story she would say it's a ghost acting up.
Just like a child. You turn your back and there they go. Yes, seems that happens to me almost every time. lol :-)
My machine is at it's happiest when it can listen to some Yanni, purrs with Andrea Bocelli and sings away with Il Divo. Then at just the right moment I can sneak out for a potty break or a chai latte.

Mine does exactly the same - but today it did even better - see "You couldn't make it up!"
I thought it was just mine! He knows when I move. HE, cause it's such a cranky thing!
I think they all suffer from that. It is a build in. Mine acts the same way. Ha, ha
Maybe we should "sing" to them or something or talk soothingly to them?
This is weird!
