No you shouldn't have to buy a new hoop. The screws can be replaced. The local hardware store should be able to get you one if the retailer that sold you the machine won't.

This is ridiculous. These machines and their parts are too expensive to be treated by manufacturers as throw away etc . They should fix especially if under warranty. I'm so pleased some cuties could help with some great suggestions , that we , also can all take on board. Cheers .......Val

You shouldn't have to buy a new hoop. I broke one and meantioned it to the dealer I bought it from and they just gave me one. This was Viking. I would have paid for it.

Hi Martina
I have a old brother and it has 4 hoops with it. Do you have another hoop that you could borrow the screw from?

Try to find a Nut and Bolt place. They're out there, you just have to look. Then take the whole thing in or email them with the info. I did find a dealer online who could sell me the ones for the old Singer, but they were sooooooooooooooooooooo expensive. In the mean time I took the one out of the small hoop and used it on the big one. Never used that small hoop.

Of course, I have to tell you that the second hoop that I bought was one of the best buys I ever made. (After I got the screw fixed.) I can hoop another towel while I'm working on one.

Some time ago I lost two hoop screws i went to a Brother store and Internet and they did not have it I had to buy the hoop again, they told me!!! some one here in Cuties, gave the idea to to an ACE store, and I found the same screw for pennies!!! I bought a dozen just in case. I do not know where you live if there is an ACE hardware store, but you could go to a similar store . Good luck!

I hope that you are up and working again. I dropped my hoop and a spring flew out. Took it to the dealer
and they ordered a spring 6wks ago. I have yet to be called that it is in. I went to another dealer and he put in another spring but he said it was tight and I couldn't get it on my machine. My son saw and said that is the spring that is in ball point pens. Well I undid 6 pens and took the springs
back to the second dealer and he put one in and I have made 25 bunnies in the hoop and much more.
Good luck!

My husband went to a local store that sells parts to machine shops. The bolt and nut both were less than a dollar. He bought several sets for future repairs.

Ridiculous to have to buy a new hoop!! So I went to a local hardware store, with hoop and screw when mine broke and they helped me find a fitting screw and bolt. Costs a couple of dollars as I choose the stainless steel ones and they've lasted ever since. Try that!
