One of my first BIG projects was a Memory throw for my mom. To represent the time when Dad was away serving during the war, I put this appliqued patch over one of my mistakes onto her throw. I did the design of the Blue Star flag that hang in her window while he was away. I bought the army boots which are stitched all in one color from Embroidery Supply and the double diamond patch was made for me by Dru of Dru's Designs. It was and still is the custom for US families to put a blue star flag in their windows while their loved one is away serving our country. The flags have one star for each member who is serving. When the star is gold, that means that person gave his or her life while in service to our country. My dad LOVES anything I put these designs on. I put the patch in pastels on handkerchiefs. I made him an ornament with it, I put the Army patch on a towel he keeps over his computer. I put it on a T-shirt. He just loves them. Maybe your dear soldier would like it too. I am posting the Blue Star flag design I digitized on Cuties. I think I'm going to put some army things on a coaster next.
