I might be wrong but I was under the impression that these needles were to be used with the cutwork designs digitized with the new Diamond machine update. Not sure if they would even work with a cutwork design from one of the sites.
Yes, you need the special designs; no, you don't have to have the Diamond, several other Viking and Pfaff machines can use them too provided they can stitch without thread - which a.o. the Designer1 can't.
Thank you all! I was wondering how the cutwork needles worked.

I saw the inf. site, it looks very good, but they are too expensive for me, beside that you need cutwork designs digitize for that kind of needles that means every cutwork set I have, freebies, and not so freebies will be useless.
I did, and used the designs that came with the needles (bought the pack when it was an introduction offer). And my new Ruby came with a great number of beautiful designs, amongst which cutwork designs adapted for the cw needles.
As for digitising designs for the needles: I'm not quite sure which needle to use when: straight lines, horizontal and vertical - that's easy -, but I have yet to understand their logic in using needles for curves or diagonals.
Ruth, we have had a couple questions on this in the past - if you type in cutwork needles and do a search - to the right of here - I know you will get more answers through that - I hope this helps.
Shirlener, thankyou, I did that first and got "no results found"that is why I asked the question, thankyou for the suggestion though. Ruth
Dear Shirlene, I have the same answer"no result", prehaps you could give us the link.I think also that the question of Ruth, is perhaps different, because she ask about a all new set for the Husqv. machines, I am interested to know if this set bring something new, and if it is worthwhile to buy it?
The set consists of 4 needles that are like tiny chisels. They cut the fabric before the satin stitch is stitched. You can use the special designs for 'normal' cutwork, but not the other way round. The difference is the very short stitch length - just long enough to make continuous cuts that leave a clean edge. But it would not matter if you stitched those with an embroidery needle and cut with scissors afterwards.
So, is it worthwhile to buy? If you do lots of cutwork or a very special project and don't mind buying the right designs, it is. But at €48 for a packet of 4 needles it is expensive.
