Most people in England have little thought about their heritage (unlike our Welsh, Scottish and Irish cousins) but those of us who do are going to celebrate today!

Hi Sue - I am so pleased that there is someone in England that still celebrates St. Georges day. It is so sad that old traditions have to give way to newer ones. Sarah.

St Georges Day greetings to you Sue. Look forward to hearing how you celebrated the day. Being the Easter weekend there are a vast number of holiday makers here and its quieter at home. Happy Easter/Pasg Hapus

HI Sue..
Im a very proud to be English and live in London.
However English Traditions are completely Not *PC*
here. Not meaning to sound harsh but I do at times
feel like I have been robbed of my birthrights.
A local shop was threatened this week for displaying an English flag in the run up to this day, as it may cause affence to the temple just up the road.
I do feel that our heritage has been lost a long time ago here in London.
I wish I could be there with you :-)
Big hugs - Maria xx

Are these people in the temple not British?. Please explain why an English flag in an English shop should cause offence. What flag should British people display.

How I agree, Mooie.
It is a very strange situation in England - as a nation we are not proud of our heritage. I have my St Georges Flag flying, but it is rare to see it except when the football supporters wave theirs!

Happy St George's day to you. What is the difference between St George's flag and the Union Jack or are they the same

It's a history lesson we need

The Union Jack is a combination of the St Georges red flag and the flag of Scotland which is blue with a dioganal cross so it is blue and red. The St Georges flag is white with a red cross. Wales has a red dragon on a white and green background

Hi Sue.. It's not that we are not proud. our history is not being passed on as tradition anymore.
Its all a can of worms :-(
