You need some cepacal throat spray, this will numb it & help with the pain. Drink plenty f fluids, eat light, if you are running a temp take tylenol. If you continue to have an elevated temp I suggest you go to Dr. The flu can cause secondary infections such as bhronchitis or even sinus infections. Raise your head in bed with lots of pillows so you do not cough as much. I sincerely hope you get to feeling better soon. Please try to stay away from other fmly members so they won't get it./Lillian

Avoiding my dear hubby so he doesn't get it. Fortunately the rest of my family had other plans this year.

When my son had the same problem as a little child, the doctor wrote a Rx for whiskey, lemon and honey. I was glad for the prescription as I had visions of running into our pastor as I went to buy whiskey. I'm guessing that the honey and lemon alone, would work, too.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs,
Jacqueline

A cool cloth on your neck might help. Or an ice pop to numb it. If your drug store delivers, there is a spray analgesic that helps. Asprin or tylenol might help with the pain, too.
Hope you feel better soon,

Try warm salt water gargles too.

Prop some pillows up in your bed so you are very well elevated if you can't do the recliner. I use Halls cough drops. The only I can think to use. The throat sprays don't seem to last very long to me. I have the allergy thing going on. Started coughing in church today and had to leave. Luckily the service was about over. Hope you're feeling better soon. Do you have a cool air humidifier/vaporizor? That helps too.

How about honey and lemon to soothe the throat. And rather than lie down, try being in a recliner. If you can recline you can still breathe without coughing. At least it works for me. Rest and let your body recover. Then attack the Easter goodies.

Thanks, I can recline but I can't fall asleep. :( I'm getting tired of sitting, lol! Still coughing, but not as bad though. Will have to try the lemon and honey.
