I download very few free ones anymore. I pick and chose only the ones I think I might use. I have so many designs bought, and free ones I would have to live a thousand years to stitch them all. Even the free Alpha's, I have so many and I don't know if I have used any of them. If I miss a few, that's okay just move on to something else. I don't worry about it.
I have got really picky and realised that I will never use the ones I have. A while ago I deleted masses off my computer. I now DL 4/ 5 a week and buy when I see something I cannot live without.
I am addicted, Ican not stop but Ido not download everything in one year since I started I have close to 10,000. I bought some too. When I need some thing I have it is fun :))
I'm addicted. Can't help it. And seems that I almost never have one that I really like to do a certain project. But I'm probably close to you in the number. I have to say that there are times when I don't keep one that I've downloaded.
Like many others, I am much pickier than I used to be. I do the "cute" family alphabets and yorkio's freebie every day - never know when one may come in handy. I see something somewhere I really like (on a site or DBC) I will pick it up too. I have memberships to a couple of sites so I get those designs as they are released. And I buy from some favorite sites too (especially when there is a sale). I am guessing I add 25-50 designs a week to my collection.

I collect very few. Unless it is something I know I will use, I usually bypass on the freebies. I have so many designs now and I end up buying some every month usually from emblibrary. I need to go through all my designs and start deleting the ones I know will never get used. Hugs, Mary
Hi Maria,
I don't download any freebies, not a single one. but I estimate that around 30,000 freebies have been downloaded from my site. and I only have a little site and I don't get much traffic. I find it very interesting when I see some people downloading every single freebie and others that only download one or two or three. I know which ones are most likely to get stitched out. But I guess some people like collecting things. I can't imagine much use for thousands of stamps either but lots of people collect them.
Alice.
That is true Bev, I just could not think of another example. But I do know people collect all sorts of things.
Hi Maria, I used to collect a lot of free designs at the beginning. But I have become selective now. Still trying to organise my files and removing lots that I know I won't use. Also did not put the site names to designs, which I am also trying to sort out. (this I have been doing when I have my machines going, and not digitising my own designs.)
So I don't collect so many at the moment. Hugs Yvonne
When I first found out you could get free designs I went nuts downloading everything.....Now I'm very selective on what I download....I still way behind on organizing....I keep saying I will not start another alphabet and I hope I can stick to that, time will tell.
When i first started everything .Now only what i think i will use and i am trying to get oranized boy thats hard.A year ago Shirlene gave me some tips on files and i am trying but boy its hard on my old head so maybe 100 or less a week !! carolyn
You may be the one who actually embroiders what she collects. I don't think I've seen anyone who accomplishes as much as you do. I always like to see what you are turning out next
Bev
125 a week x 4= 500 a month- 500 a month x 12= 6000-6000 a year divided by 365 days in a year = 16 a day plus 40 extra-Now you're adding to that the ones you purchase.Your time. How long do you take to embroider a design? 10 minutes? usually longer if you have lots of color changes, disruptions, etc. How many years have you been collecting 3-4 maybe more. Wow, thats a lot of embroidering a day.Just another way of looking at it. If I never buy another design or collect a freebie I will have enough to last me forever. But i always want the new one. I'm not addressing this answer to any one person, just Cuties in general.
Bev
I've been collecting designs since 1997 back when I had to save them on hundreds of floppies. A few years ago I saved them to CD's.
Not nearly as many as I used to. I collect Fonts on cuties and sister sites if it is some I'll use... Lately it has been 3 a day which = 21 a week... but I'm finished with two of them.
I need to go through my designs and delete what I will probably never use or put them in a different folder.
I buy a lot from Emb. Lib.
I get really tired of looking for the hidden ones in Oreg.Ptchwks. I've found a few.
so I suppose I download about 20 - 30 a week and that is really slowed down from a while back!
MJDG
Free designs... probably 3-5 a week.
Subscriptions and Clubs with paid memberships plus shopping the occasional sale counts for 30-50 a week.
Suddenly, I am not feeling as addicted as I thought I was. Thanks, ladies.
I use to take all that I could get. Sometimes I was getting and organizing sveal hundred a week. Now I seldom download a frebie. It is a great way to build up your library when new and it exposes you to so many digitizers.
I download freebees while my machine is stitching away. I download a lot of designs per week. Some days I only download 5 or 6, but on other days I may download 50. And that's being picky, I download only the ones I know I will use someday :) Sometimes you just find a mother load of beautiful designs, this week I hit the jackpot At OPW with their Easter Hunt, there were a lot of new beautiful freebees they must have loaded for the hunt. I can't resist nice ITH, FSL or Bullion Rose designs.
Aljay's & Patti's Creative Studio are two of my favorites. They also have a lot of nice samples to download.
I can't imagine why you would want to download this many free designs. Why not spend the time stitching some of those you already have.
Out of those 100-125 how many would you say you actually use?
Bev
I just go into my folder of designs and search around, there is so much stuff there I've forgotten about. it seems almost new to me. I can find some good stuff there.
Bev
Hardly any. It has to be something that really grabs my attention. I would say less than 25. I usually grab the fsl or in the hoop and there aren't really too many of those. When i was new to embroidery i would download every freebie i saw then i realized i did not even use them. i am well supplied if the need for a design ever comes up.
Bev
I probably do somewhere between 50-100 depending on what I find. Others here mention a site and I go and see if there is something I might like. I also have a couple of sites from a while ago that I didn't have time to go through that I have in favorites so I can go back later.
Usually check here on Cute (and the Sister websites) then only the websites I trust and ones I'm collecting continued alpha's at.
Have a great day !
Hugs
Not as many as I used to when I began. I only download what I really am likely to use! If I never download another one, I'll still have plenty to keep me busy for years.
I try to be choosy now but when I don't dl one later I wish I had. I probably do 50 or so a week.
