Shirlene, thanks for the warning. Keeps us all alert - again - to this horrible sort of mischief. Can't they invent something useful instead? *4U.
A little tip: if you want to permanently delete anything on your pc is to hold down the "SHIFT" key and hit "Delete" The item will be totally removed not just sent to your rubbish folder or deleted items folder. cheers, Meganne
The best advice I can give you all is to make sure you do not have your Mail "Inbox" set with a "Preview Pane" to show the message contents as this does, in efect, open your emails and makes you more vulnerable to activating a virus. You should NEVER open emails with attachments unless you contact the sender and ask if they DID actually send it to you. And UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER OPEN AN .EXE (executable) attachment. When I was working, for an International software company, opening an .EXE attachment meant Instant Dismissal, that's how serious this directive was. Also you should ensure your Anti-Virus program is set to check every incoming & outgoing email, despite what some Internet Service Providers might tell you. You can't be too careful! cheers and thanks for the heads up Shirlener, roses to you, Meganne
How do you stop from showing the preview pane. I have outlook and when I log in on the left is the folders to the right of that is who the mail is from and to the right of that is the message
Thanks for this shirlene, good advice everyone - stay safe, and keep your computer clean. Hugs and flowers everyone.
TRhank you
Here she is. Congrats on passing the 1000 and even going up to 1227 now. *4U
Thanks for sharing that - I have a safety here at home, but you never know!
Thank you Shirlene and Justtheather is right, don't open any email from a sender that you don't know. Flower and XoXo
It also serves as a good reminder that you should never open emails or attachments (especially) from sources that you don't know or trust. Delete them and empty your deleted items and recycle bin!
