WinRar is a newer program that creates much smaller zip viles. Many embroiderers are starting to use it because having smaller files helps with disc space and download speed. I purchased it and like it a lot better than Winzip. When unzipping it gives a lot more options about where you want the unzipped contents to go. A neat program.

I use frog extractor to unzip the RAR file (free)
http://download.cnet.com/Free-RAR... Just drag the green box to the frog and it unzips! Then use Pulse or Wilcom to change to format you need, resize, change colors, etc. http://www.pulsemicro.com/ambassa...

All three programs are free. Nanc
I trust filehippo. Been downloading for years. This is free.
yes..carolym is right... I also use 7-zip to open the RAR files and convert them to the extention I need (pes or dst).
Hi, a program called 7-zip opens RAR files and converts them to DST. It works great and is a free download and can do batch unzips. If you save up a lot of files to unzip this can unzip the whole batch very easily and quickly. I love it. Good luck, Carol
RAR is another form of ZIPPED files like WINZIP, but the WinZip program often will not unzip rar folders, whereas WINRAR program will unzip RAR folders and WinZip folders so you should download and install the WinRar program. just google it
There are other free programs that will also handle RAR folders but since I don't use them you will need to wait for some other Cuties to tell you what they are.

THANK YOU soooooooooo much, I thought I had heard of all zip files, but this was a new one for me. Also the WINRAR works better than what I was using, much faster and more options-wish I could give you extra flowers
