I am trying to hoop a bath towel and when I put the inner hoop in and push it into place it keeps popping out. What am I doing wrong?

I always hoop my towels, and I use pretty thick ones. I use tear away stablizier with a spray adhesive on the back. I don't have a problem with the hoops getting sticky. If you do they do sell a sticky spray remover which, I purchased and haven't need yet. And I make ALOT of towels. I have a Bernia 730 and the hoops open pretty good. And don't forget the wss on top. I use adhesive spray for that too, but just a tad. I've used the sticky back stablizer method with a basteing stich, it works just fine. But it can be difficult to remove just becare what type you purchase. Good Luck

I also never ever hoop a towel. no need, I hoop tearaway put my towel on top, use my basting stitch to hold it in place, then float a piece of wss on top then stitch away. works every time. good luck.....p.s I don't like the basting sprays they have a tendency to build up on your hoop (at least that's what my dealer says so I've never used it)

You have to open your hoop more and then it will be easy to hoop the towel, I always hoop my towel and never had problem with that. I´m selling lots af towel in my Gallery, you can see them on my website:

Try opening your hoop a little more, and than tighten it when you get it hooped.

I hoop all my towels, I use WSS on top, and usually float a tear-away under. Never had a problem yet, and I sell lots of towels at the markets.

I've never had a problem. Hoop all of mine. And use the WSS on top. Silly question, but can you open the hoop more?

I went back to the sewing room and tried opening it more and it did, then I tightened it and I did the design. I used WSS on top but it split open and the foot would just push it away - maybe the WSS was too tight?

I do not hoop towels I use sticky stabilizer to hoop. Then place the towel on the stabilizer. i use some pins too making sure the pins are not in the embroidery area, never had a problem with this method.

I, too, never hoop a towel. it's just too thick & can damage your hoop. I do use tear away stab. (hooped) and then baste in the hoop the towel to the stabalizer. Do use a WSS on top that I baste as the same time I baste the towel. Never had a problem. Good luck!

This is also an excellent way to stitch on towels.

This is how I do it as well.

I do hoop the towels with a piece of WSS on top. You must loosen the hoop quite a bit and it will het you hoop it. I haven't had any problems with it leaving marks on the towels.

I see you got the answer that I was going to give - I do not hoop towels of any kind. I, too, hoop the stabilizer, and the fix the towel to the stabilizer and stitch. Works every time.

You do not need to hoop your towels. They are too think. I hoop my stabilizer (cut a way) and then spray the stabilizer with some temporary adhesive. Place your towel and then I use a wss on top. I haven't even tried to put a towel in a "quilters hoop" which has more room. I just don't hoop the towels it can leave a "burn" mark on them as well.

In a pinch I have even pinned the article that I am working on to the stabilizer if I didn't have temporary adhesive. Just make sure you fasten it securely.
