Claude I see that the question has been answered very well - that the material is called Honeycomb or waffel weave and that you would use a tear away on back and a WSS topping, and also after washing your fabric.

Can't wait to see what you create with this - take a picture and share it in PROJECTS for us all to get inspiration from.

Just a comment but I do believe this will shrink quite a bit when washed they usually do. So if the towel will be used you may want to wash it first to prevent your design being distorted. I learned the hard way. Hugs Lisa

Claude I would use tear away, on back & a WS on the top to prevent design from sinking in to the fabric./Lillian

Hi, Honey Comb or waffel weave as we call it.Makes lovely dishcloth, t-shirt or dressing gown .
I lay it flat on tear-a-way and hoop both ,don't stretch the fabric, you want the texture to show. Can also be pinned to the hooped tearaway.
I do not use WWS, it is not necessary.
Happy stitching
