with PayPal and could not get her money back because it was delivered electronically. Google 'telemarketer computer scam' and read all about this, DON'T GET SCAMMED. The calls are from India. Apparently they tell you your computer is out of warranty. Marg

I forgot to thank you Marge.

I could have a bit of fun with this now that I know about it. hehehehehe!

I know what I would say:

"Well fancy that, I work for Microsoft Sydney, which office are you calling from and what's your MSID number????"

And if they don't hang up I'd probably laugh out loud and hang up, or I'd say I was going to call the office manager and see if Sydney office is doing this too.

Then again, maybe I'd just handle it the way I do all telemarketers or door knockers.

I say NOT INTERESTED and hang up.

Rude? yes, but effective. :-)

This was on the late news in Sydney Tuesday night.

No matter what country you live in there are always people out there to scam you. If you didn't request their services then you know they are up to something. Grew up with the saying "Let the Buyer Beware." Just wished some of the unfortunate people sucked into these scams were not so gullible.

I live in Brisbane australia, and I received a call last week, saying they were calling from microsoft, the caller said he could see I was having probs with my computer...I thought (really microsoft)They would not ever call you DIRECTLY fortunately I just said if my computer has a problem I take it to a local person to fix and hung up. told everyone at work and they said yes there are people randomly calling saying they are from microsoft and they then will help you fix the problems and charge for the help although they are actually retrieving all your password and data...SO PLEASE BEWARE!!!!! Hugs Sally

Thanks for the info, Sally. Yes, I also got a phone call from a geek saying he was Microsoft....Bahhhh, baloney! However I asked where he was calling from..accented voice came back Melb, whereupon I told him I not interested (as I have had numerous of these phoney calls, Geek became very insistent, whereupon I politely terminated the conversation and the phonecall, but these calls are becoming very prevalent and stickier than glue to get rid of. Flowers for you. By the way, I am t'other side in country WA, Cheers Mufti

Think there is also another. Also again with an accent they say they are from Microsoft technical department and you are having problems with your Computer. After 30 mins of going through your computer they say that you have a problem and it will cost you $99 for them to fix it. Don't fall for any of these.
