You've got your answer anna, have fun doing them, I like bikermom's idea of the nude silouettes, haha. Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
BIKERMOMFL: I have made many ties, never embroidered them tho. I had purchased a pattern, but can't find it now :( Hate when you always lose things in moves :(
Depends whether the design would look best on bottom or where it will show.
Years ago, I got on a "tie" kick and made a bunch. Seems as if ever male in the family got one for Christmas. My thought they were home made rather than a designer original, so I gave
, them up.
Well, pooh to him! Shows that he doesn't recognize artistic talent when it is right in front of him! =]
I did once, I bought a one-colour tie, removed the stitches at the back so I could embroider it.not quiet at the bottom but about 5 cm
9don't know howmany inches that is). After I finished embroidery I stitch it in eachother again.succes
thank you... I work with cm too..... have no idea about inches either, in germany we use cm. flowers for you
I know part of the answer the design goes towards the bottom of the tie, just check out any ties in stores w/designs, but does anybody know how to make a tie? I can't find a pattern and hubby is not thrilled with letting me take one of his apart. His favorites are the Rush Limbaugh ties, expensive but cool. Found a pattern for nude silouettes which he loves and would like to put them on a tie. Any clues?
I'm with Anna Get a cheap one at goodwill. salvation qrmy, thrift store. Take it apart & go from there.
Gotta add a third vote here for going with the thrift store idea. Not only will you get your tie for your pattern, but you will be helping out the less fortunate in your area (since that is who is usually the benefactors of thrift stores, in my experience). Remember, when you cut out the tie, cut it on the bias of the material. Otherwise, it will be most difficult to get it to lay flat and look nice. I also recommend that you embroider the designs BEFORE you cut out the tie itself, since that makes it easier to make sure the design is exactly where you want it. =] Good luck with this project, and be sure to post a pic when you are done, ok?
