I can't believe you folks are still laughing over this one. I mean, I know it makes me laugh everytime I read it - but as you all know, I do have a wicked sense of humor, haha! Love, hugs and flowers to you all.
Very cute, but I fully intend to take it all with me. =] I don't yet know if any of my kids (boys) would appreciate any of it. But I have lots of time (knock on wood) before I have to be thinking about wills and such.
this is really funny! Can identify with it too. Till I came on this site I though I was a bit eccentric keeping all sorts of bits n pieces which will come in useful one day (after all something is only useful once it's been thrown away) I used to do a lot of machine knitting and still have yarns in storage after more than 15 years! Have copied this will to pass around. * 4u
Do you still machine knitt? I have two a fine and a bulky. Do some on the bulky ever now and again. I still have tons of yarn also but NONE of MINE WILL GO IN STORAGE. lIKE TO KEEP IT WHERE I CAN SEE IT EVER NOW A AGAIN.My machines are brothers and yours?
Hi ruthie,
that's great - seems I will spent the morning translating this into german for my mother...
I will wait a little bit, though, before writing mine, but it seems that my 8 year old daughter will continue the family tradition and cherish my treasures...
* for you,
Sassa
ruthie, I don't really have much of a stash - but I did pass this one around to alot of friends that do. Hehehe! I do have lots of embroidery items and I am trying to figure out how to word it to apply more that way. Hehehe! *4U
Thank you for making me laugh! Neither of my girls sew, but I am teaching one grandson (Who is very artistic) and granddaughter in hopes someone gets bitten. ;)
My pleasure to make you laugh jrob, and I hope you manage to convince one of the family to treasure your stash as much as you do, sweetie, hugs and a flower for you.
This is so funny. Thank you, Ruthie! My younger daughter wants my sewing machines, all my threads, stabilisers and so on. The quilting stuff is intended to go to a neighbour, a friend gets the bobbins, yarns etc for lace making, knitting yarns, needles etc go to my elder daughter. But the rest.. O dear. I'll have to think this over.
Thank you Ruthie, it's a great laugh. Only those who sew or do crafts could even begin to understand how we collect things. How about DL freebies? Seems everyone has heaps of them! +1 4U.
Know what you mean lyn - it takes one to know/understand one, haha! Not sure how we'd stand with regard to the freebies - but the way I see it, the one doing the giving could hardly be sued, could they, haha!!! Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
Really funny Ruthie. Thank you for sharing with us. Flower and XoXo
My oh my oh my, how I need to do this, my daughter took alot of my things out of my apartment, not too long ago and put in her storage - so that I could pass a housing inpection. I have lots of things in my own storage unit and my son has the key to that and I think he is planning on donated it all to good will. So if I hurry, maybe I can recue some of it. HaHa! Thanks for the laugh and I like it. A flower for you. Loretta
Oh loretta, I think you'd better *rescue* your stash from being donated to good will, it really deserves to go to someone who loves it, haha. Hugs and a flower sweetie.
If Loretta could give it to you - how on earth would she every know where you were? Hehehe!
This is a hoot. I love it. I left all personal property to only daughter. As my granddaughters get older and develop my love to create unique items by sewing, maybe I will designate my machines.
Katy, when I bought my first embroidery machine, my daughter said that it was hers when I departed this earth. So I told her she was welcome to it, but that by the time I *depart*, both her and the machine will be too old to be of any use to each other, haha!!! Hugs and a flower sweetie.
Do you mean you are doing to wear out your machine or live a very, very long time? Ha! Ha!
I love it Ruthie. I have a girlfriend who actually said she put all her sewing/quilting/etc stuff in her will too. I should think of one soon myself. *4U
This is SO funny! I am going to take a copy to my favorite quilt shop owners. The one is a frustrated comedian and she will put this to use. I hope that I understand the last line as meaning that the creater of this wiill is Eleanor Peace Bailey because I want to put the credit line at the bottom for them.
Oh, Ruthie, how very true!!! I think I'll write this up and take it down to my quilt shop, and then tell the ladies to actually DO it, hee hee hee. Thanks so much for sharing this! Marji
Pleased to have made you smile marji, I just had to post, can you imagine the Will reading!!! And I think the wake would be fantastic - and I'd definitely be *hovering up there* to listen, haha!!! Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
<<< continued >>> LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT - MY FABRIC WILL ..... Being of sound mind and
body (a statement that does
not bear close scrutiny) I <
testament. ..... Knowing that <
matter knowledge of my extensive fabric collection, which by the way is deposited
in various places throughout my house for safekeeping. Knowing also that <
that great quilt shop in the sky, to pick up and dispose of the aforementioned collection.
Therefore I do WILL this collection and all other collections related to it, to my dear fellow fabric preservationist <
and obtaining clear proof, that I did not manage - (although goodness knows I tried) to take it with me, will come to my home, before
the goodwill store searches out my collection. That she should rescue the said
collection and stack it in my quilting studio, along with my sewing/embroidery machines, frames, old buttons, lace,
patterns, quilts, dolls and works in progress. And after she has done that, she should purchase refreshments for all
my friends, not yet departed,
which friends are also her
friends. Every last one shall
be in that room and they shall
hold a wake and say lots of
lovely and kind things about
me, until they run out, and
then they shall divide amongst
themselves my wonderful
collection. Be forewarned! I
shall be hovering over that
very spot until this is done.
They shall then leave this
spot and close the door,
leaving the car, house,
stocks, bonds and other
worldly nonsense to those who
don't understand or know any
better. ..... This is my wish
on the matter. ..... Signed:

been informed that this "will"
is written by Eleanor Peace
Bailey.)
It may be a bit difficult to
follow because I couldn't
separate into paragraphs, but
I think you'll all get the
gist and appreciate the humor
here, I did, haha. Hugs and
flowers - and don't forget to
write those *wills*!!!
my hubby and i updated our will 2 weeks ago! i put into it who gets what machine and what to do with leftover crafty stuff. my lawyer look kinda funny at us ,till my hubby said i had $ 30,000 worth of STUFF! i doubt its that much( maybe)
If I told my lawyer that I wanted to put that in my Will, he'd hold a real straight face and include it, haha!!! He's a friend of my DH and knows exactly what I'm like and what I have! Hugs and a flower to you both.
