pafhen, I have done several designs on denim and I have not hooped the item nor have I used a topper. I have used a light cutaway and have had no problem, with great results. good luck and can't wait to see your vest.
hello pafhen try speciale foil it lost up in water and try that on the top in the ring i hope this help you bye gr sonja
Something that I have discovered on my Viking is that it has a fix feature. If I click that before stitching the design it stitches a basting stitch around the area of the design(square/rectangle). That helps hold the fabric and stablizer in place in the stitching area. It also allows you to see where the design is going to be. That's especially nice if you are adding something to an existing design (it allows you to see where it will be placed).
Did a number of jean legs, Opened up the side seam and hooped the fabric. Light wss on top. Works fine for me. Hope to see your result. Flower for you.
Great answers, hope to see the finished vest in the project section, soon. *4U
pafhen, I always use a light-medium iron-on tearaway, but a sticky would also work. If you don't hoop the denim, you need to make sure the fabric is firmly adhered to the stabiliser, and be sure that the whole garment is free to move as your machine stitches. I prefer a needle specially for denim. Have fun, hugs and a flower sweetie.
I use sticky stablizer and nothing on top. Good Luck A flower for you.
I use a 90/14 needle, some of the needles just say denim depending on the brand. I don't hoop the denim, I use a tearaway on the hoop and pin the fabric. The denim is heavy and I don't like to hoop it, but them I don't hoop much. I like to baste or pin the fabric to the stablizer after hooping the stablizer. It's easier for me to center the article this way. I'm sure there are others that do it different, this is my preference. Bev
When I've embroidered on denim I have always used a tear away stabilizer and nothing on the top and have had great results. A flower for you.
