I'm thinking of buying some (simply because I'm a natural fibre fan!) I know it is fluffy and I would need to clean my machine more often but I thought it might be nice for fsl.

Good question-Is it specifically for emb machines? I didn't know you could buy 100% cotton.

Tha vintage Anchor thread I have is described as "machine embroidery" thread but the stuff I'm thinking of buying isn't. I can remember when all sewing machine thread was 100% cotton! (In the 1950's)

I have used it with no problems-mostly for quilting designs and embossed designs on towels.

I have been sayed that cotton thread was better for cross stitch, but I have never used it because of cleaning the machine after!!!

Yes I've used it several times making the fsl doilys, most people will think you sat for hours doing hand crochet. Yes, you;re right about the lint only draw back I found.

yes you can use the cotton thread. i am making a pineapple doily and I had asked the same thing.Shirlene
told me to use a #14 needle since I was using 30 wt thread. i am about half done with my doily and it looks alot like the ones I made by hand. I use 2 layers of vilene. So far I am really pleased with how it looks.I clean my machine after stitching out part of it.

I've used it, it will do. Fact is just: it is not so shiny and yes you do have to clean the machine more often, but you can use it. hugs* G
