Am absolutely heartbroken. A FSL design I was stitching out was 57 minutes & more than 22,000 stitches. Using metallic thread and it was coming along beautifully. Went to check work, then.......

Dear Libby, I'm so glad you got this fixed! Don't these machines just hate it when we leave them to work alone! I was sitting watching mine do a design, and just *thought* about working on my quilt pieces, and she broke a thread just to show me she was boss!!! Hee hee hee. I'm glad you had a cool head about it, and could fix it. I always watch my machine & have some idea of the stitch count, so if something happens I can go back, then forward (mine jumps by 10 stitches in fast forward) to where it messed up. LR has the right idea, everyone, the number one thing is not to panic, or unhoop the design! Go eat some tim-tams, get a chocolate rush, and your brain will be in better shape to figure it out. Those tim-tams sound great, wonder if that would be like a double stuffed chocolate filled Oreo cookie here? I think you should get enough so we can all come to your house for a tasting party, Lib! When I hit the lottery, I'll charter the plane, hee hee hee. Love you, Marji

Oh, libby, so pleased that all has turned out well for you. These things happen to everyone, not pleasant at the time, but the best thing is not to panic. Wait, then think it through - and we're always here to help if we can sweetie, hugs and flowers for you.

I'm so sorry. I think every here has been in that place. I would try to find the place where you stopped. I don't know what machine you have but many have possibility of skipping through to where you were. After all those stitches it worth a try. GOOD LUCK!

Libby, this is like alot of things in life that we feel we have no control over. Our initial reaction is dissapointment and panic, but if we take a deep breath, and know where to go for help, most of our problems can be solved. I am so happy for you that this was resolved. :)

by now you more than likely pulled it off the machine. sometimes waiting awhile until you get over the shock to react is best..then go back to the point you remember the stitches being at before you left it. then go forward from there until the needle is in the same spot as the star on the emb. then try and start it to finish. You said you were about 22,000 stitches so that is your starting point, work your way forward from that point. Your needle will line up pretty close and you can just finish it off..you can see about how much was left.
NEVER OVER REACT..you will then regret it later..just cool down get over the shock and then use your head to fix it..usually its a simple case of just using your noggon to fix the problem..

No, I didn't over react, but I do know what you mean, I managed to fix it, but it took some time trying to find my place again and keep the kids fingers out of it all. I never took the hoop out and reading all the answers here helped me do the most obvious things that you don't thing of at the time. *4 all of you.

With precise positioning you could go right to the place it stopped and start from there. Ask me how I know. That's one of the major things that sold me on my Pfaff. I often start a large design and have to leave or go to bed before it's done. I can shut my machine off and go back to the exact stitch where I left off even days later. Just don't unhoop the design. I feel your pain, been there done that.

Checked on work, coming along beautifully, only 6 minutes to go. Decided to put dinner on stove and then come back, and what should happen????? Temporary power out. Went back to machine, it turned off long enough that when it was all back on, it was like I had never started. Not sure where exactly it was up to. Lots of stitches in a few minutes. Just to make it worse, I have already eatent he last tim-tam in the house. Nothing will console me.

If you have EMBIRD you will be able to see where the thread broke. What you would do then, is bring up the design then let it 'run' on the stitchout and just watch untill it comes to where about you think you the power cut!

gerryvb by gerryvb 08 Apr 2008

I think this is a good advise from bigdee,if you did not unhope your work!I'm sorry for what happened to you, hope you can fix it.flower to you
