I cannot find anything in the instruction book about oiling. Am I missing something?

No, you aren't missing anything. My dealer has told me not to try and do it myself, that is what they are there for. I take my machine in once a year for maintenance and they never charge me. Carol

I was also told never to oil the machine. Take it back to the dealer every year to year and a half, depending on use, and they will do the maintenance.

I just had it in yest. and got it back now. So I'll be good for another year.

I was told to leave the skins on. Reason: I could easily put oil where it did not belong and really mess up the computer functions.

Hi there, the only place you are allowed to oil on any of the Janome embroidery machines is on the wick which is situated under the bobbin. Just take out the bobbin and you will see it there. You only need to put about 2 drops on it. If you want to be extra diligent, you can take out the bobbin holder (take note how it is positioned so you can put it back the right way), brush away any lint that may have built up around it and in that area and I like to wipe a touch of oil around the base of it as well. Hope this helps.

no you are NOT....you are to NEVER oil your machine in any way.....take it back for its annual visit to the shop and they do all the oiling for you....that is what my shop owner told all 10 of us in our new machine class....hope this helps....it is done internally somehow and if you ever break the seal on it trying to get inside the dealer will be able to tell....so don't mess up you warranty.....

I never did the oiling on my previous machine as I was told it had a self oiling mechanism. But is I remember correctly, the book mentioned it.
Thank you.
