Ok, gals, a towel question. My late DH's daughter is getting married on May 17 (doing the dance of joy!) and I'd like to make towels for her bathroom done in seashore motif. Please see more inside

You have gotten some Good Answers. I would only add that I hoop Sticky Stablizer amd float WSS on top.
A flower for you.

Anna stole my answer :P That is what I would do, wss on both sides and go for the design of your first choice :) Blessings and *4U

You got good answers - let us see them when you stitch them out. And those are beautiful designs - saw them there.

I would use WSS in the hoop, maybe 2 layers, And WSS on top also. Use the same thread in the bobbin as you use on top and your design will be virtually the same on both sides. I think I know the shells you're talking about and they should be lovely. Good luck. Make sure you post the finished product.

Hi....Why not appliqué a satin Heart onto the towel and do the toile embroidery within the heart that way No stableizer need at all and the design will not dissappear into the towel..hope this helps cheers Dianne

how about trying wss on both sides? I would try the fabric type underneath and the plastic type on top. I have NOT tried this myself, its just an idea that came to my mind so I suggest you try it on an old towel first maybe to see if it works. good luck and please let us know what works best then! flowers for you

Marji, So far you have not answered my questions, You will need to use the same thread in your bobbin. I use a tear away/washaway stabilizer. Size 80 embroidery needle. I hoop my stablizer, spray it with temp. spray, then lay my towel on top and baste. I combine my shells on the computer first then take it to the machine. You can also use a wss stablizer under and always use one on top. I hope this helps. If not ask some more. H.*.

I have beautiful toile seashells from Embroidery Library. Can anyone tell me how to stabilize them? If I use tearaway on the bottom, I'll be picking microscopic pieces out between all that 'redwork type' stitching, and I'd rather not use cutaway because I'd like the towels to be 2-sided. Should I just pick different designs, like maybe 'Cute's' fishies? This will be my first towel project. Any advice would be appreciated so much!! Thanks, Cuties! Marji

are the seashells a kind like lace, because I don't know what you mean by toile? If so, than perhaps you can make them on this towel by hand making very smal stitches with the same threadcolour?in that case on the backside of the towel is not that much to see.don't know if I help you with this answer. Perhaps toile is something totally else.but anyhow *u4!

Gerry, toile is kind of like redwork, only more stitches, but not as heavy as a regular design. It might be described as a 'sheer' design. It's not lace, but a very 'open' design, where you can see a lot of the background material. Thanks for your help! Majri
