Prewounds from MetroEmb.com work beautifully on my Brother PE780D and 6000D. I use the shorter plastic sided ones and use the "top hat" (bobbin pin). I also reuse the empty ones to wind colored thread for FSL and satin finishing without any problems.
My two cents worth says on the Brother machines, only use Brother bobbin thread. I have tried others and had big problems. The sewing store says Brother machines are particular about bobbin thread. I can agree. Prewound are absolutely the best way to go.
Pre-wounds from Metro are the way to go. Never had a problem with them on my Brothers (everything from the old PE-100 to the PR-650).
I like them and use them in my Pfaff all the time but never use them in my Viking. The ones for both machines are different and not interchangeable. They are great for embrodering but for quilting I would rather use the same bobbin thread as the top thread. *4U
I have a Brother Quattro and had endless trouble with bobbin thread showing on top so I tried a prewound I purchased from Echidna Embroidery here in Brisbane.Since that day I have used the prewounds and I am now proud to show off my work.
Do you purchase the L size, as the 6000D is not listed on a chart I found that recommended pre-wound A and L, i.e., which to use on machine brands and styles. Thanks
I had a Babylock Ellageo and now have an Ellegante. I started plastic sided Nebs a long time ago and love them. Tried the sideless in the Ellageo and she didn't like those. I think I got mine in a sale from Long Creek Mills. I have an adapter for the Elegante so am still using the L size. I bought some A from metroemb for using in the 270D, but have not tried them yet. They don't look any different than the others. Both of my machines wind a great bobbin, but you do get more on a prewound, so it's a major convenience while embroidering a design.
I have Bernina machines. Any one of you cuties use the pre-wound bobbins that have Bernina. Thanks for all the questions and help from all you Cuties! ♥
I have a Bernina also, I've been told to never use the cardboard ones as they leave residue in the bobbin area, but I've wondered about the plastic sided ones. The prewound ones are suppose to be wound tighter with no loss spots. And that is what's supposed to make you embroidery look better. I always wondered if you machine "feels" the weight of the bobbin to know if it's low, will you get a false reading on a plastic bobbin verses a metal one. Clear as mud, right!
I was buying NEBS from my Brother dealer. Since then I bought a box of 144 from Metro. They bought work great on my Brother machine. Joyce
Don't like them. The ones that I bought I couldn't find the end and had a heck of a time using them. No more. My sidewinder is too simple and quick to go through that mess with pre-wound. They worked ok after I got them started.
I absolutely love NEBS plastic sided prewound bobbins for my brother machine. So convenient to use, and works great in my machine. I think I bought mine from www.allstitch.com quite some time ago, as 144 in a box lasts a long time. I only wind a bobbin, if I want a specific color. White works for most embroidering I do.

gosh this is one of the best argued questions lol
prewound versus own wind
I use both -- prewound for my brother pr600
also for my Innovis 700, plus I wind my own If I need a pacific colour..
but to be honest since Ihave been using the prewound I love them..
I use the sideless core ones by marathon as I mangaged to get the boxes 144 in the sale so I bought 5 boxes lol.. here in the UK I got the best deal on ebay for these.
Thanks! I had not known about sideless until yesterday when I went web-shopping for bobbins. I have a home-emb machine. Do they work in them? What is the advantage to no sides? :>)
I have a Brother 6 needle and I use the cardboard pre-wound bobbins from Metro thread and they work wonderfully. I personally don't like ThreadArt brand thread... find it cheap and my 6 needle AND my BabyLock Ellisimo don't like it! Go with Metro... you won't be disappointed. :-) teri
I have a Brothers ULT 2003D and I use the plastic side prewound bobbins from metro. They are having a sale. A box of 144 Black is 15.95 and white is 19.95 plus 5.95 shipping. Never had any problems with them.

Hi Ro, I too, only use the prewound bobbins, and with my Brother I only use the plastic side ones. I really don't think they are any more expensive buying them that way, and they are soooo convenient. I have purchased them from threadart too. I'll have to looks to see where I got the last 144 box, but it was around $40. Which brother do you have? Make sure the bobbins you buy are the same material as your embroidery thread, I use poly on top and bottom.
Hugs, Jan
I checked their site just now. I have the QuattroD, and have been getting a no-name brand from the store. I too love them but they have been 12 for 10$! so....
