and I wrote to Gingher and they replaced it free, well this a.m. I'm getting ready to cut my backing fabric for my newest quilt and wanted to remove a little lint from my cutter and poof the blade is stuck again! Well I first thought there is no way a $40 cutter should have this problem, then thought hmmmmm, it's kinda warm been laying in the sun in front of the window so let it cool, still couldn't get it undone, so what the heck tapped it a few times and poof it came right off, then noticed that there was a lot of 'gunk' stuck in the groove, so I thought since I was a windbag I could blow it out, nope, so used the brush, nope, so AHA I grabbed the can of 'air' and blew the dickens out of it, lint and dust and debris went everywhere, especially all over me and the newly vacuumed floor! BUT - it now works perfectly! So if anybody else runs into this problem maybe this can help you too. Frankly I'm a little dusty right now but had to share while I thought of it.

Sounds like you should submit cleaning and dusting the rotary cutter tip to the Embroidery Library's Tip of the Day. it might get you a $5 gift certificate. Worth a try.

Thanks for sharing! The only problem I have with my cutter is keeping the screw tightened ;D *2U

I have a bunch, but have not pooped for the Gingher. I do love Gingher products. When I am cutting, I try one and then another to find a perfect match for the job. Presently , I am at odds to find the perfect one for the silk and poly scarfs that I have been working on. They are most difficult to work with.

I find that I can take the blade off mine so it never gets too fluffed up.
Also a tiny bit of oil(with an earbud) on the blade keeps mine in good condition, and it rolls easier.

that happens with all the rotary cutters and you need to oil them every so often and if you do they will last longer.
