could you please tell me what format a brother innovis 1200 machine uses, as my friend has just bought one and we don't know what design format to download for it.

yep PES There are also software updates for Windows and the USB here at this link as well as an online users guide and manual.

Pes seems to be pretty much universal. My Viking can use pes.
