Glad that you got your update on your machine back, be careful, those sales people are just there to sell you the newest and the best.
I'm working on my Singer XL6000... with a husband in school full time and working minimal hours, my paycheck basically supports us in Southern California. I would love to get another machine, but will have to wait until he graduates in a year. Until then, my little Singer works wonderfully! Actually finished paying it off last month. xoxo to everyone.
Even though I low-carb, I'd rather have to eat beans and rice than to be without my machines! Good for you having it paid off and loving what you are doing! Do you sell your things? Do any shows? I actually paid my first one off doing craft shows. Baby stuff REALLY sell! Kim
I have a Husqvarna #1+ and will have to keep it for many years yet I think. I am living with that fact too, but hey, grateful for what I have and all it does :) I've had it approx 14 yrs and (touch wood) has never been in for repairs. *4U
I love my Designer 1. I bought mine on Ebay. It was used, maybe 18 hours on it and I got it for less than $2000. My dealer wanted to sell me the same machine with almost 200 hours on it for $4000!
can you tell me where the more inside is please I feel like this was cut off in mid sentence and I am missing some of the story.
It is at the bottom of the answers. Look for dlonnahawkins name. It should be the first one at the bottom.
It will move around depending on how people answer questions. But yes, look for dlonnahawkins name.
I have got a Designer I and I too love it. My dealer told me NOT to upgrade to the Designer SE nice as it is, because the the extras don't outweigh the cost. My daughter though would like me to buy a new one and sell or preferably give her the old one.. Think she'll has to wait a couple of years. Flower for you.
Keep looking for specials. I was fortunate to participate in a Viking survey for 4 hours and was offered a super deal on an SE. I love it. It has a USB connection to my computer so I can pull up my designs directly and don't have to fool with read/writer card, floppy disk or memory sticks! I can also go directly to a specific stitch and not step through one at a time. With the new version coming out you should be able to get an SE for a good price!
When I bought my Designer 1 last fall, I was also advised by my Viking Dealer, not to upgrade to the SE...but rather wait until the new one came out which looks like it might be an even bigger embroidering area than the SE.
I've got a Husqvarna as well and boy or boy does my rep like to try and convince me I need to upgrade! i started with the 955E but then quickly moved into the Designer I which I dearly love but come on now $4,000 is plenty for a sewing machine that stays home and entertains me. If I was working in a shop with it maybe I could pay more, but then if I was rich what the heck. Oh well I love what I got and hope you do to. Star for free...
I'm thinking if it does (thread itself and make dinner) I may have to sell a grandkid or something! ;)
Dionna I have a Babylock Ellaegante they thread themselves. Sold a Bernina that gave me nothing but fits & bought this. Over a yr. now & no problems. Not as eXpensive as a Husqvqrna
coming out from Husgavarna Viking. It only costs $9000 - and was offered $3500 for my SE. Guess that will just have to wait. I wonder if it is good enough to thread itself, and make dinner while I wait? lol.
I understand that there are going to be a lot of improvements. A longer arm for sewing/space for quiliting fabric and a larger emb hoop area. My dealer was saying 8,000 but I bet yours is closer. Trade ups are great deals however, that's still A LOT of money outlayed. Guess I can dream!!!! Unfortunately Viking products are very expensive.
