Thanks to everyone who gave me the great ideas. I have made everyone bottle cap pin cushions and I embroidered their initial on the center of it. We are making the snappy bags at our retreat. I will try and post a picture. Thanks again, now I have some great ideas for next year....or Christmas! What a fantastic group!

Time is short now but another couple of ideas 'hit' me.

1) You could embroider FSL hearts from Veronika's Lace section here with each quilter's initial on them..... or..... use Yoriko's FSL heart from here...
http://designsbycuties.cuteembroi...
and put your own lettering on with the name of the retreat and date....
or...use both and sew them together.

2) You could embroider small cross-stitch quilt designs, satin stitch a firm backing and glue on a magnet for the fridge. See SewForum's Moemy's Mini-quilt designs 48x48mm size, about 2" square...here are some of her lovely designs....

Just throwing in ideas if you have time or to use some other time.

If you can find the pattern or directons for the little "snappy" bags that use a piece of metal tape measure in the casing to open & "snap" closed you can pretty much make whatever size you want and they go together quickly. Use for makeup, photos, sewing kit, or to give to the grandaughters, etc. I think I made over 100 of these last year and everyone wanted another. I have apurchased pattern but I think you can find directons on www.tipnut.com or some of the embroidery sites have made in the hoop versions.

A tutorial link for the snap happy bags. You can make them whatever size you want them to be.

There are a whole bunch of 4X4 FREE quilt square designs right now on EmbDesigns. You could make coasters of the different patterns. Everyone would have their own that matched the others, but still individual!

I love my little pin cushion someone made out of a bottle cap too!

Do they do Embroidery too? If so they probally all have USB Flash Drives. I saw a cute project by one of our cuties sammi10 who made flash drive cases. I hope Sammi doesn't mind that I added the link, or suggested her project. :)

I have made the ring pincushions and they go over great.....I keep a box full to use in emergencies...
also make scissor holders to go around the neck but the thing that has gone over the biggest in my groups has been the name tags made with old fabrics. They have a place for the name tag, as well as a small pocket behind name tag for small things and then a bigger pocket to hold small rulers....I may have to post a pix of this as it is hard to describe.....our quilt guild decided to use my design for all our name tags.....so that meant 33 more.....after the 20+ already made as they liked them so well.....

Would love to see the picture of these. I have been considering making name tags for our guild. Thanks in advance.

I have gone to quilting retreats and the hostess has made cute but simple pin cushions. One can't have enough pin cushions.

All great ideas, and I especially like the idea of personalizing it to be date or event specific. Best of luck.

a friend of mine just received a pkg from her sister and she was so delighted, it had 1/4 yd increments of fabric, pins and she said the cutest pin cushion she had ever seen. It was a ring! but you used it as a tiny pin cushion, cute huh

these are so easy to make using pop bottle tops, some elastic, fabric, and stuffing......quick to make also. I made 20 in one evening for a quilting group I was teaching and filled them with sequin pins as we were doing applique. They loved them.....

I like the mug rug idea...or coaster. We use those all the time & it's nice to have your own special one. Or you could do one related to the next holiday. Didn't check where you are, but a 4th of July one would be nice if you're in the USA.

I love greysewist's suggestions. I too, think something "event specific" would be great. How 'bout a pin cushion with the quilting retreat name (if there is one) and the date. Or a needle book complete with a pack of needles. Monogramed items are nice, too. I'm a quilter and anything sewing/quilting related that also has some memories attached are sure fire winners with me. Sounds like a great time. Have fun! ✿4U

Well, I'd be going for a memento type of thing. Maybe a coaster or mug mat -crazy quilted if it's your thing, maybe? -or with a logo or saying that suits the occasion. Another option might be to make a block for each of them -and that way they could make it a part of whatever project they fancy, whether they want to do a knee rug, a machine cover, a tea towel, etc.
