I am doing redwork for a baby blanket. What stabilizer(s) do you use. I am new to this embroidery stuff.

I used a medium tear away when I did a quilt on cotton. Worked out great :)

It is a quilt with front-batting and backing of 100%cotton.

Meduim weight stab. should be fine as you know that would only be on the backside of the front peice. but also if you wanted to you could pick something very very simple outline and do it in the border part of your quilt through all three thickness.
done this with a few and holds them really good and firm as your pulling it around on bed to make it. good luck and post so all can see

Stabilizer is directly related to the fabric that you are using. A good rule of thumb is, the thinner/and or elastic the fabric, the thicker the stabilizer. If your fabric is fairly stable, Teri is exactly right, redwork should not require more than med to light tear-away. ;)

Hi Purplex... If the baby blanket doesn't stretch, I would use a medium weight tear-away... what do you think girls?
