Try a larger needle size or a metallic needle that has a larger needle eye.
If you are using a size 75/11 change to a size 80/12.
This will cause less friction on the cotton thread and cause less lint and thread breaks.
Cotton thread will give off lots of lint so clean your bobbin area out often.

Perhaps lower your top thread tension down just abit and then test to see if that makes a difference.often.

I use something called - Sewer's Aid. I got it at JoAnns. It was recommended for when I have trouble with rayon or metallic threads. You just put on your needle and on the first maybe foot of your thread to coat the discs and I have rubbed some that may still be on my fingers along the edge of my bobbin. I have used it a couple of times when working with some cottons also. It seems to help cut down on the lint. Good luck. ♥

I see you're up and running. Hope you got your quilt finished. Be sure to share a picture in the project area.

Try checking the bobbin area for lint build up.

Welcome to Cute. Have you tried using a different reel of thread - perhaps there is something wrong with the one you are using. Is the tension OK? Hope you get sorted out soon.
